RESIDUE AND RESISTANCE SAFE FOODS THROUGH BIOLOGICALS The Green Revolution has seen huge increases in agricultural productivity driven by inputs of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides. But the cost has been high. Chemicals have led to pollution of our soil, ground water, surface water, vegetation, and dangerous levels of chemical residue in our food-chain of crops, fruits & vegetables, milk and poultry – leading to scourge of cancer, genetic defects, mental deficiencies and other diseases. Chemical pesticides indiscriminately kill even friendly microbes and insects, which play an important role in the healthy growth and cropping of plants. The agri-biosphere is a complex symbiotic world of microbes and insects which play a natural role in making nutrition available to the plants, pollination, disease resistance and control of pest population. The farmers who apply these chemicals, and their families living in farming villages, are the worst affected by usage of chemicals; as also the handlers of chemical stocks. Long and indiscriminate usage of chemicals has resulted in the pests developing Resistance or immunity to these chemicals. So, farmers are forced to apply higher quantities and more frequent applications of the chemicals to get the same produce – thereby increasing their costs and the associated pollution. As customers become aware, they are demanding chemical-free safe foods. Governments are legislating Minimum Residue Levels or MRL of chemicals in foods, and even banning larger and larger numbers of chemical inputs. Safe Foods Technology (SFT) is an integrated farm management technique that produces The Dangers of Chemical Fertilizers “safe food” with residues within safe levels. It incorporates a mix of organics such as farm manures, inert nutrients, plant extracts, macrobials and microbials, and in special cases even on plants, soil, crops & fruits small quantities of chemicals. Microbials offer an effective, safe and long-term solution against Residue and Resistance. Microbials are the cutting-edge high-tech category of farm inputs using living microbes (bacteria, fungus, viruses) to provide nutrition, disease control and pest control. These are living microbes which have been identified and isolated from among millions of naturally occurring microbes, harnessed in the lab to increase their virulence and efficacy, and are produced in large quantities in fermenters, for application in the fields. When applied on crops, these microbes act only on the target disease or pest; and do not cause any harm to other friendly microbes, insect, animals or humans. Long term application of microbials over the years improves soil fertility and farm yields. IPL BIOLOGICALS LIMITED IPL BIOLOGICALS LIMITED

CROPGUARD (Verticillium lecanii, Beauverria bassiana) BIOLOGICAL COMPOSITION CROP GUARD • Formulation : Liquid 8 • CFU : > 2 x 10 / ml • Shelf Life : 12 months • Storage Temp. : At normal room temp. ABOUT PRODUCT CROP GUARD, a consortium of naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungi, formulated as a liquid for foliar spray application, is highly effective for the control of waxy insects and sucking Bio-insecticides pests. MODE OF ACTION Verticillium lecanii : The spores of this fungus when come in contact with the cuticle (skin) of target insects, they germinate and grow directly through the cuticle to the inner body of their Insect-Pest management host. Verticilliumlecanii proliferates throughout the insect's body, draining the insect of nutrients, and eventually killing it in around 48-72 hours. Verticillium lecanii fungus produces several toxins like bassianolide and other insecticidal toxins such as dipicolinic acid, which infect aphids, whiteflies, scale insects and cause mortality. Beauveria bassiana: Beauveria bassiana conidia infect the insect skin by penetrating and lysing (with enzymes) the epicuticle. Once inside the insect, it grows and releases toxins called Beauvericin and Oosporin that weaken the host's immune system. Eventually the entire body cavity is filled with fungal mass. Insects, before succumbing to fungal infection, exhibit various symptoms including restlessness, cessation of feeding and loss of coordination. BENEFITS Effective against all soft body sucking insect like Aphids, Thrips, Mealy bugs, Whiteflies, Jassids, Hoppers, Scales and wooly aphids. ABOUT PRODUCT ABOUT PRODUCT MAHASTRA is a bacterial insecticide and an organic bio-catalyst, provides high degree of VARUNASTRA a highly effective insecticide against sucking peats. The fungal spores produce protection against lepidopterous insects and their larvae. several toxins which causes insect mortality and controls further multiplication ofthe insects. MODE OF ACTION MODE OF ACTION Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki (or Bt) is a common gram positive, spore-forming, soil bacterium. VARUNASTRA produces several toxins like bassianolide and other insecticidal toxins such as When resources are limited, vegetative Bt cells undergo sporulation, synthesizing a protein dipicolinic acid, which infect aphids, whiteflies, scale insects and causes mortality. The spores of crystal during spore formation. Proteins in these crystals are called Cry (Crystal) endotoxins and this fungus when come in contact with the cuticle (skin) of target insects, they germinate and have been known for decades to display insecticidal activity against specific insect groups. This grow directly through the cuticle to the inner body of their host. Verticillium lecanii proliferates multi-step toxicity process includes ingestion of the Cry protein by a susceptible insect, throughout the insect's body, draining the insect of nutrients, and eventually killing it in around solubilisation, and processing from a protoxin to an activated toxin core in the insect digestive 48-72 hours. fluid. The toxin core travels across the peritrophic matrix and binds to specific receptors called cadherins on the brush border membrane of the gut cells. Toxin binding to cadherin proteins BENEFITS results in activation of an oncotic cell death pathway and formation of toxin oligomers that bind to Effective against all soft bodied sucking insect like Aphids, Thrips, Mealy bugs, White flies, GPI-anchored proteins and concentrate on regions of the cell membrane called lipid rafts. MILDOWN (Bacillus subtilis ) BIOLOGICAL COMPOSITION • Formulation : Liquid 8 • CFU : 2 x 10 / ml • Shelf Life : 12 months • Storage Temp. : At normal room temp. ABOUT PRODUCT MILDOWN is a highly effective bio-product and contains Bacillus subtilis. MILDOWN is a good bio-fungicide to control and prevent infection of downy mildew and other fungal diseases and Bio-fungicide develop resistance against bacterial pathogens in crops. MODE OF ACTION MILDOWN colonizes Bacillus subtilis colonizes the developing root system, competing with disease organisms that attack root systems. It inhibits plant pathogen spore germination, Disease Management disrupts germ tube growth, and interferes with the attachment of the pathogen to the plant. It is also reported to induce systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against bacterial pathogens. It produces a class of lipopeptide antibiotics including Iturin. Which out compete the microorganism by either killing them or reducing their growth rate. Iturin also has direct fungicidal activity in pathogen. BENEFITS It is a rhizosphere and phyllosphere colonizing bacterium. It can control Downy mildew, Powdery mildew, seed, soil and air borne fungal foliar diseases such as leaf spot, blight, anthracnose etc. RECOMMENDED CROPS Cereal, Corn, Oil Seeds, Cotton, Millet, Pulses, Tomato, Pea, Beans, Onion, Garlic, Basil, Cucurbita, Mango, Grapes, Ginger, Citrus, Pomegranate, Apple, Peach, Plum DOSAGE & METHOD OF APPLICATION Soil Application : Mix 2.5 L of MILDOWN per ha. in 100 - 200 Kg of well decomposed FYM / compost / Vermicompost or soil of the field and broadcast in the field at time of field preparation / sowing and standing crops.
