We look forward to continuing to earn your trust and business daily in the tradition you have come to expect from us!” GARY LEEPER, GENERAL MANAGER “With great people who have solid values and a strong work ethic, the heritage established by the Strachota family for over 110 years, and experienced leadership that continues to deliver value to the farm and our stakeholders, we’re excited to embark on the next century of bringing strengths and opportunities to our customers.” FRED RECKNER, CONTROLLER “I believe the future for Dairyland is very bright. I feel our genetics, product offerings, excellent customer service, core values and customer relationships will drive our growth as we move forward.” KIM MAYNE, OPERATIONS LEADER “Personal relationships have always been an integral part of the seed industry and the success of this company. We know that good people and good products have gotten us to where we are. But we also know that it’s our principles that make us who we are. I’m excited to continue sharing those values with farm families for generations to come.” T.J. STRACHOTA, MARKETING LEADER “Our team was mentored by a great leader, and we will continue to serve customers in his vision. Farmers and agriculture are at the heart of what we do. Regardless of changes in our company, our staff, and technology our focus will remain on the customer. Great service to our customers will continue to be our goal.” 4 // IF YOU SCREW IT UP, FIX IT. 5 // THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST. DEB BACKHAUS, OFFICE MANAGER/IT
Dear Friend of Dairyland: The 2017 – 2018 sales season marks the 110th year for this business, now known as Dairyland Seed. The business has undergone many changes during this time, adapting to meet ever-evolving market demands and adjusting to changes in leadership. However, none of these changes were more significant than what the company faced this past fall—the loss of a leader, a visionary, and most of all, a friend of ours and the agriculture industry. Of course, I am talking about the passing of Tom Strachota. True to the values that have allowed us to be in business for 110 years, we at Dairyland Seed were positioned to carry on the traditions instilled by Tom and his family members since the company began. We are proud to say that we have continued doing what has always been done—taking care AS PROUD AS WE ARE of our customers fairly and ethically with the best products and services we can provide. OF THE PAST, WE ARE As proud as we are of the past, we are equally as excited about the future of Dairyland and our opportunity to earn your trust and business. 2018 EQUALLY AS EXCITED will continue to bring change to agriculture and Dairyland, but we are confident in our direction and our ability to thrive amidst that change. ABOUT THE FUTURE We will stick to our core values and live by our “5 Rules.” For those who are OF DAIRYLAND AND unfamiliar with these rules, they are listed below. They may only be 23 words, but they say quite a lot. We believe in them, and we live them daily. OUR OPPORTUNITY • Do the right thing. • Listen more than you talk. • Tell the truth. TO EARN YOUR • If you screw it up, fix it. • The customer comes first. TRUST AND BUSINESS. We look forward to working with you and earning your business in 2018! GARY LEEPER GENERAL MANAGER, DAIRYLAND SEED Sincerely, Gary Leeper General Manager, Dairyland Seed 110 years and growing

TRAIT STEWARDSHIP REFUGE AND Bt MANAGEMENT Practicing sound Bt management and following grain marketing requirements are crucial to protecting your crop plan options, today and in the future. When planting hybrids with in-plant traits, it’s important that you follow all applicable Insect Resistant Management (IRM) and grain marketing requirements. Consult Corn Product Use Guide for complete details. Separate Refuge Refuge Size Requirement REFUGE SIZE AND DISTANCE Refuge Distance Requirement Corn Belt Cotton Belt SmartStax® Refuge Advanced® None PowerCore® Refuge Advanced® None SmartStax® Within or adjacent PowerCore® Within, adjacent or up to a half-mile HERCULEX® XTRA Insect Protection Within or adjacent HERCULEX® Insect Protection Within, adjacent or up to half-mile Agrisure® GT/CB/LL, Agrisure 3000GT, and Agrisure 3110 require a 20% refuge in the Corn Belt and a 50% refuge in the Cotton Belt. Agrisure 3122 and Agrisure Viptera® 3220 require a 5% refuge in the Corn Belt and a 20% 5% refuge equals 5 acres of non-Bt corn for every 95 acres of Bt corn planted refuge in the Cotton Belt. 20% refuge equals 20 acres of non-Bt corn for every 80 acres of Bt corn planted 50% refuge equals 50 acres of non-Bt corn for every 50 acres of Bt corn planted For Cotton Belt refuge requirements, consult Corn Product Use Guide. REFUGE LOCATION AND CONFIGURATION OPTIONS The structured refuge may be planted as an in-field refuge or an adjacent (e.g., across the road) refuge. Refuge required for Herculex I Insect Protection and PowerCore® trait technology as well as SmartStax in states where CRWS are not significant also may be planted as a separate block that is within a half-mile of the Bt field. In-field refuge options include blocks, perimeter strips (i.e., strips around the field) or in-field strips. In-field blocks or strips must be at least four consecutive rows wide. Seed mixtures of Bt and non-Bt corn (other than the mixture provided as Refuge Advanced®) are not permitted. When switching between Bt hybrids and the seed to be planted in the refuge, planter hoppers should be cleaned out to avoid inadvertent mixing of seed. Growers should calculate the acres required for refuge and plant the appropriate amount of refuge seed for the configuration options selected. For example, in choosing to plant in-field strips, a grower must calculate how much refuge seed is needed to meet the minimum refuge requirement and fill the refuge planter boxes with that amount. Strips should be planted until the minimum refuge seed is completely used. The remainder of the field can then be planted with Bt seed in all boxes. Additional refuge options for Herculex® I, PowerCore® and SmartStax® Common refuge options (select states only for SmartStax) Field Edge Compact Block Headland Across Field Half-mile Splitting Planter Perimeter Adjacent Field Bt corn Refuge corn (does not contain Bt genes for control of corn borers or corn rootworms) Illustrations are not a representation of refuge size requirements.
