Please Remember These Important Pick-Up Reminders!

 The earliest you may arrive on campus to line up is 2:10pm. We begin dismissal at approximately 2:23pm. Please do not arrive any
earlier than 2:10pm as we are dismissing our PK students until approximately 2:05pm.
 Please pull up as close as you can to the car in front of you. We need to get as many vehicles off Maple Street as possible.
 Please be as quick as you can with assisting children with car seats and seatbelts. Please be sure that every child is properly
restrained before pulling forward. Please continue to build independence!
 Please do NOT pass any vehicles, and please stay in line!
 Please do NOT BLOCK the entrance/exit of our school campus to get in line. Obstructing the view on Maple Street is very dangerous
for parents trying to pull out. Please be patient and wait your turn. If your vehicle cannot fit straight at the end of the line when
entering our school campus, please wait!
 Please be courteous and take turns alternating east and west bound traffic when entering our campus.
 Please DO NOT block the entrance of our neighbors’ driveways. Please leave each driveway accessible so that our neighbors may
enter and exit their homes safely. We appreciate our neighbors and want to always be respectful!
 If the fire siren goes off, please pull off the road immediately!
 Please continue to be patient and appreciative of our staff who do their best to ensure everyone gets home safely. Please let our
staff know how much you appreciate them. A simple thank you goes a long way!
 PLEASE KEEP YOUR FAMILY NAME TENT POSTED UNTIL YOUR CHILDREN HAVE ENTERED YOUR VEHICLE! Throughout the school
year, we will have different BFE staff members assist with student pick up duty.

NYS K-12 Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards
The Board of Regents adopted these new standards in December 2020.
The standards are organized into five key concepts:

    Impacts of Computational Networks and
                                                                                 Cybersecurity Digital Literacy
    Computing Thinking System Design
This month we are going to take a deep dive into the first concept. The Impacts of Computing standards
promote an understanding of the evolving impact of computing technologies on society through many lenses,
including personal, social, cultural, accessibility, legal, economic, and ethical.

Below are a few examples on how these standards could be met in the classroom from NYSED.gov.

Students could be discussing the differences between

                                                     and getting a text message.
Students can be “inventors” and design a technology that

Career Paths 7-8.IC.7 students develop a mind map for the classroom wall that
connects all the different career pathways.
Students can do virtual field trips to labs and various

DAY THIS MONTH - WE CALL IT PI DAY

                         Can I be of some
                        assistance, human?

What does a robot look like? If the first thought that
comes to mind is something that looks like a human (a
humanoid robot), you might be surprised to learn that
most robots do not look like that. Robots come in all
different shapes and sizes. They are usually built for
the job that they are going to perform.

                        Learning about robotics can
                        make us better learners,
                        problem solvers, cooks,
                        engineers, airplane pilots,
                        video game designers,
                        drivers, athletes, or almost
                        anything else.

How can you get involved? Some schools have after-
school robotics clubs or competition teams.

GST BOCES hosts regional competitions for the
following robotics platforms, VEX IQ, VEX Cortex
/ VS / EXP, and Underwater ROV (Remotely-
 Operated Vehicles) These competitions occur
 each fall and spring.

   • REC VEX Robotics competitions:
5 different competitions for different levels
for students in grades 3 and up
   • FIRST Robotics competitions:
a few different competitions at different
levels for students ages 4 and older
   • MATE ROV Competitions (underwater

different levels of students from middle
