Current situation - ÉTS Winter 2021 – Hybride mode Despite the COVID-19 crisis still affecting the worldwide population, ETS wishes you to consider the pursuit of your study plans for the winter 2021 semester. • The majority of lecture courses delivered remotely and certain training activities in person on campus. • Graduate and postgraduate students will have access to their laboratories and work spaces in order to pursue their work. • ÉTS favours in-person exams if social and health conditions allow, but is seeking co-modal solutions for the international student community who wants or must remain outside the country.

Master with thesis CREDITS : 45 credits REGIME OF STUDIES : Full time (mandatory for international students, including summer semester) SCHEDULE : Courses offered on days, evenings and some in an intensive format LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION : ÉTS is a French University, almost all courses are provided in French. Check your program strucure and requierements on our website
Master with thesis 1 Mandatory activity MTR801 Planning for an Engineering Research Project (3 cr.) 4 optional activities (at least 12 credits) from the corresponding program: • Undertaken in French at ÉTS (see "Liste des activités"); OR • Undertaken in English at a partner university. ** If you choose to take courses at a partner university, you must obtain prior approval from your supervisor. French course Successfully complete an out-of-program French course, appropriate to his or her level, to obtain a diploma Thesis The student must successfully complete the following activity near the end of the program (30 credits): MTR890 Master's Thesis (30 cr.)

REGISTER TO YOUR COURSES- OFF-CAMPUS COURSE AUTHORIZATION PROCEDURE Access the online portal • Go on the Bureau de la coopération interuniversitaire (BCI) website OR on the link in your ÉTS portal under Shortcut - “Authorization to transfer credits” • Select the right semester for your application and choose “École de technologie supérieure” in the list. • Authenticate yourself by entering the username and password used to access your online portal, MonÉTS. Create a new application and add an activity • Select the program you are enrolled in at ÉTS. • From the list of universities in the pull-down menu, select the host university at which you want to complete the activity. • Search for the activity you want to take at a host university. • You can narrow your search by entering the initial letters of the code or activity title in the appropriate box. To Follow up on your application • Once your application has been processed, it will appear in your ÉTS portal. • Tuition fees will be paid at ÉTS directly. • Your results will be sent to Registrar’s Office of ÉTS and will appear on your ÉTS portal.

Health and hospitalization insurance All international students must obtain Canadian health and hospitalization insurance. ETS WILL NOT recognize any insurance coverage from your home country. Desjardins Group Insurance • Includes : Healthcare and hospital fees, prescription drugs, guarantee of repatriation • Excludes: Dental and vision care, family members ÉTS students are automatically enrolled in the ÉTS group insurance plan • Coverage starts on December 15 for the winter term • Fees will appear on your invoice • Once paid, Registrar’s Office, will provide you with your policy number and other details a couple of weeks after registration. You will then be able to have access to your online account Claim 360 • Contact assurances.etrangers@etsmtl.ca for questions or concerns regarding the insurance. Cost 600$ from January till August, then 900$ / year IMPORTANT – Family members If you have family members travelling with you to Québec, you are responsible for obtaining insurance coverage for them as well. Unfortunately, Desjardins only offers individual coverage, so you will have to make your own arrangements for this. Compare the packages offered by various insurers, and choose the one that best suits your needs!
Ass Insurances 2. Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) For students benefiting from social insurance of a country that signed a reciprocity agreement: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Sweden. ** Only possible exemption from Desjardins insurance Includes: Health and hospital fees ( Canada only), prescription drugs ( France and Belgium only) Excludes: Dental and vision care, travel insurance outside Quebec, Repatriation insurance Additional health insurance - ASEQ For the students who are covered only by RAMQ, additional optional coverage is offered. Registration within 30 days following your adhesion to RAMQ

Call Info-Santé to ask for advices 2. Consult a pharmacist 3. Visit a clinic without appointment 4. Only go the hospital for a real emergency See website of information on Montreal’s healthcare network Do you need to pay? When you consult a doctor, a upfront payment might be required. You’ll have to make a claim to the insurance company to get reimbursed.

See job offers on campus Work off campus Offenses to immigration laws Max 20 hours / week Break to immigration laws can lead to the Working on camps AND off campus is possible if you comply with the rules for both following consequences: options. • Refusal of renewing student permit; • refusal of work permit delivery You need to stop working if: postdiploma or permanent residency; • Studying part-time (unless it’s the last semester of your program) • refusal of entry to canada; • Expired student permit • explusion from Canada. • During an authorized leave during your studies • Period of break after changing study institution
Housing University residences • ÉTS's academic residences accommodate over 1,100 students • Fill the Booking Form to be put on the waiting list (no engagement until they offer you a room) Off campus housing Most students will live outside campus in apartments shared with roommates, or with a higher budget, on their own. Visit classified ads websites and Facebook groups. Visit our Student housing in Montréal web section Warnings • Make sure to sign a rental contractor a sublet agreement • Never pay cash deposit nor monthly rent without getting a receipt right away • Be respectful and careful with the place you rent - you are liable for damages

Part 2 COVID-19
New Travel Restrictions Check ÉTS and IRCC’s website for all COVID-19 updates! BEFORE October 20, 2020 - Hold a study permit or letter of introduction that was issued before March 18, 2020 - Travelling to Canada for essential purposes (specific confirmation letter from ÉTS) AS OF October 20, 2020 - You have received approval or a letter of introduction for your study permit, along with the accompanying eTA or visa; - Studying in a Designated Learning Institutions with a COVID-19 readiness plan approved by their province
New Travel restrictions Even though ÉTS appears on the official list of Designated Learning Institutions, it is important to avoid undertaking any travel before all of the following conditions have been met: • You have received approval or a letter of introduction for your study permit, along with the accompanying eTA or visa; • ÉTS still appears on the list of Designated Learning Institutions by the time you are travelling; • You have prepared a quarantine plan for yourself and the members of your family who are travelling with you; • You have familiarized yourself with the specific registration procedures for international students for the winter 2021 session; • You have familiarized yourself with all of the current health procedures in effect at ÉTS and in the Province of Québec, along with the specific resources that are available in Montréal.
Quarantine Act The Government of Canada has put in place emergency measures to slow the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in Canada. • A strict and mandatory 14-day quarantine, even if you are not experiencing any symptoms. • Register with the government within 48 of arrival using the ArriveCAN application or by phone • Be prepared to submit to additional verifications on the part of IRCC or Québec public health authorities, either by phone or in person at your housing location; • Monitor your health condition, and immediately report the appearance of symptoms any using the ArriveCAN application or by phone (1-833-641-0343). NEW- As of November 21, 2020, air travellers whose final destination is Canada will be required to submit their information electronically through ArriveCAN before they board their flight (travel and contact information, quarantine plan COVID-19 symptom self-assessment. Travellers must be ready to show their ArriveCAN receipt when seeking entry into Canada; a border services officer will verify that they have submitted their information digitally.
Quarantine plan You must prepare a quarantine plan before your departure. This document must be presented to a Customs Agent upon your arrival in Canada. 1. Transportation: Means of transportation to be used between the airport and your place of quarantine (housing location) • Wear a mask or face covering throughout the entire trip; • Practice physical distancing (maintain a distance of 2 meters) at all times ; • Avoid contact with other people as much as possible. 2. Housing : You must ensure that you have arranged an appropriate place of quarantine that is equipped with the basic necessities. • Proof of address or proof of housing reservation • Facilities available at your housing location • Precautionary measures if you will not be living alone
Quarantine plan 3. Food and essential goods Your plan must detail how you will acquire the required essential goods. It is important to know that many grocery stores and pharmacies offer delivery services. Find those nearest your housing location, and pay close attention to delivery times. • Home delivery (groceries, restaurants, pharmacies that deliver) • Mode of payment (credit card, cash) 4. Contact information of support network If your plan involves the support of another person (friends or family), you must include their contact information so that they can be contacted if necessary. Housing ETS University residences • ÉTS residences can accommodate more than 1,100 students, and they provide easy access to campus pavilions and the many services available to the student community. • Fill the booking form as soon as possible! • There is no commitment on your part at this point If a room becomes available, you will be contacted you and asked for a deposit to formally reserve it for you. You can NOT complete your quarantine at the ÉTS university residences, even if you have been assigned a room. You must find temporary alternative housing for this 14-day period. Upon your arrival at the residences, you must present your airline ticket and your invoice for accommodations as proof that you have completed the required quarantine period

Quarantine assistance service
If you are experiencing symptoms 1. Report your symptoms using theArriveCAN application or by phone (1-833-641-0343). 2. Carry out a self-assessment of your COVID-19 symptoms on the Santé Québec website. 3. Call 1-877-644-4545 to be directed to the appropriate screening resource. 4. Find the testing clinic closest to your housing location. • If you need to go out, wear a mask or face covering at all times, and inform the staff that you have traveled from abroad. ** Always inform the staff that you have traveled from abroad! If you are experiencing severe symptoms (breathing difficulties, severe pain, etc.), call 911 (emergency services) immediately. REMINDER - The 14-day period starts again if, during your quarantine period, you develop any signs and symptoms of COVID-19, including those noted above, or if you are exposed to another person subject to this Order who exhibits signs and symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19.
