Beningbrough Hall, Gallery & Gardens Group Bookings A place of reinvention; evolving garden, changing art exhibitions and a country house story spanning over 300 years. Built in the 18th century, this Italian-style baroque house has been shaped by its numerous occupants. It has an intriguing story to tell, beginning with the wealthy teenager who built the hall, to its occupation by the RAF in the Second World War and the halls re-invention as a country-house gallery. In the moment: the art of wellbeing continues for 2021… We’re pleased to have been able to secure the exhibition for a further season to ensure it can be seen by all who missed it while we were closed during 2020. Lose yourself in this art exhibition that invites you to stop and consider the power of art to calm the mind, body and soul. Wander through the Saloon Galleries filled with artwork specially selected from the Arts Council Collection, including paintings, sculpture, film and photography by some of the 20th and 21st century’s most well-known artists, such as Tracey Emin, Henry Moore and Marc Chagall. The exhibition is running until 31 October 2021. Beningbrough’s story continues in the garden with different areas showing influences and fashions of the ages - Italian, Victorian and even the horse-racing period of Lady Chesterfield. This is complemented by the Pergola, designed by award winning designer Andy Sturgeon as part of our exciting garden vision. The Pergola provides a beautiful new thoroughfare to the hall alongside the carriageway. The next phase, which began in autumn 2019 will be the Mediterranean Garden. This has been delayed by the pandemic and is scheduled to start again in 2022.
