1.0 Club COVID-19 Response and Safety Plan The COVID-19 Response and Safety Plan has been developed to ensure all relevant public health guidelines and requirements are in place to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 between club members. The plan is shared with all participants (athletes, parents, coaches, volunteers) through the Club website and is included in the registration process as a mandatory review. The plan is provided to all facilities that are utilized for club activities. 2.0 COVID-19 Oversight Team The Club COVID-19 Oversight Team is responsible for the oversight of the COVID-19 Response and Safety plan including the implementation of the COVID-19 health and safety guidelines and follow-up in the situation where a club member tests positive for COVID-19. Club members who have any questions about Club COVID-19 Response and Safety Plan are to contact one of the members of the COVID-19 Oversight Team for discussion and clarification. 3.0 Club COVID-19 Safety Protocols 3.1 Completion of Ontario Volleyball COVID-19 Waiver All individuals participating in club activities must complete the Ontario Volleyball Acknowledgment, Release, Indemnity and Assumption of Risk regarding COVID-19 (“COVID-19 Waiver”) as part of the registration process via MRS. Failure to do so means that individual may not participate in club activities. Individuals required to complete a COVID-19 Waiver include: • Athletes • Coaches/Team Managers • Board Members • Volunteers • Officials (kept on file with Ontario Volleyball) 3.2 Health Screening The Health screening questionnaire located within TeamSnap is available to all participants within 12 hours of a club event (practice, training session, other club activities) ) On the day of each event and before arriving at the practice facility, all participants (players, coaches and Team Managers) must complete the Health screening questionnaire located within My Health Check in TeamSnap. If a participant answers “yes” to any of the health screener questions (failed screener), they are not to attend the practice/training session and are to notify the Club immediately as per the COVID response protocols (section 5.0). If a participant answers “no” to all of the health screener questions, they will receive a green health check screen in My Health Check. Upon arrival at the facility, the green health check screen must be show to the coach (or designate) prior to entering the facility. 3.3 Practice Session Tracking of Participants Participation of players and coaches in volleyball practice/training sessions or other club activities is tracked through TeamSnap. Players and coaches prior to attending a practice/training session are responsible to update their attendance in TeamSnap. Upon arrival at the practice facility, the Team Coach (or designate) will confirm the attendance status of each athlete and update as necessary. The Club keeps the practice session tracking logs on file for a minimum of one month. The COVID-19 Oversight Team Lead (or designate) will access the tracking logs in the event of positive COVID-19 case to assist Public Health with contact tracing. 3.4 Physical Distancing and Physical Contact All coaches and athletes are required to main physical distancing of 2 metres while on and off the court. Athletes may breach physical distancing during team play. No deliberate personal contact is permitted (i.e. no high fives, backslaps, etc.). 3.5 Mask wearing Coaches and athletes must wear a facemask at all times, when on and off the court and in open areas of the facility. As per public health direction, a facemask should be a well-fitted medical mask or a high-quality 3- layer cloth mask that fits properly, covering your nose, mouth and chin with no gaps to ensure that it effectively filters the air. A face shield is not an alternative for a facemask. 3.6 Facility Coordination The Club will coordinate with each facility used for club activities to ensure the facility complies with the following conditions: Indoor-gathering size/capacity as per provincial guidelines Effective measures in place to manage the flow of traffic in and out of the practice/training area Any person who enters or uses the facility maintains a physical distance of at least 2 metres from any other person who is using the facility (except from their caregiver or from members of the person’s household). Washrooms made available to the public are cleaned and disinfected as frequently as is necessary to maintain a sanitary condition Any equipment that is rented to, provided to or provided for the use of members of the public is cleaned and disinfected as frequently as is necessary to maintain a sanitary condition 3.7 Volleyball Cleaning Volleyballs are cleaned a minimum of each hour and between each training session or after each match. 4.0 COVID-19 Education Plan The Barrie Elites Volleyball Club will ensure that all club members (Executive, Coaches, Team Managers, athletes and parents) receive education regarding COVID-19 Protocols including: COVID-19 Response and Safety Plan Safety Protocols For On and Off Court Activities Education regarding safety and hygiene practices Club Website and Registration Process: All COVID 19 Protocols are posted on the Barrie Elites website (COVID tab) for access. This includes website links to safety and hygiene practices from Ontario Public Health and the Ministry of Health. Topics include: Hand hygiene Physical distancing How to self monitor How to self isolate When and how to wear a mask Health screening questionnaire As part of the registration process, all club members must acknowledge that they have reviewed the information and have agreed to follow all protocols. COVID Education Webinar: The COVID Oversight team is responsible to hold a pre-season education webinar for all Coaches, Team Managers and the Club Executive This webinar includes a review of the Club COVID Response and Safety Plan including the Safety Protocols for On and Off the Court Activities. Pre-Season Team Meetings: Coaches are responsible to hold a virtual meeting with their team (athletes and parents) prior to their first practice to ensure all participants are aware of expectations, facility procedures and to respond to any questions. 5.0 COVID Response Protocols 5.1 Club participant fails health screener/unwell with COVID-19 symptoms: • If a club participant fails the self screener and/or is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms, they will: o Immediately notify the Team Coach o Not attend the practice/training session o Contact their local health care provider, Telehealth or access the MOH Self-Assessment – Coach/Team manager or MOH Self-Assessment – Player and follow guidance for testing, self-isolation, use of facemasks and monitoring of health. o Not participate in future practices/club activities until period of self-isolation is complete and/or they pass the health screener and/or they have a negative test. • If a club participant has attended a practice and failed the health screener, they will be isolated from all others and immediately sent home • The Team Coach (or designate) will: o Inform the participant that the Club COVID Oversight Team will be in contact o Email the COVID Oversight Team and inform them of the situation o Ensure Health Screener and tracking session log are recorded in TeamSnap • COVID Oversight Team Lead (or team designate) will: o Contact the club participant to determine next steps (self-isolation, testing etc.) based on the MOH self-assessment. If club member is being tested, request immediate notification if tests positive. o Confirm that the failed screener and participation tracking sheet has been completed in TeamSnap 5.2 Club Participant tests positive for COVID-19: If a club participant tests positive for COVID-19, they will: o Immediately notify the COVID-19 Oversight Team by email o Not participate in any club activities until period of self-isolation is complete and they pass the health screener and/or have a negative test. The COVID-19 Oversight Team Lead (or designate) will: o Confirm with the club participant the date of symptom onset or date they tested positive (if asymptomatic) o Access the session participation tracking log to identify the club participants who are high risk contacts o High-risk contact: anyone with whom the COVID-19 positive person came into close contact within the 48 hours prior to symptom onset if symptomatic or 48 hours prior to the test date if asymptomatic, and until the positive person started self-isolating Adapted from Ontario Volleyball Association Indoor Volleyball Return to Play/Training Protocols Step 3
o Update the Team Coach as to the situation o Notify all high-risk contacts and advise to complete the MoH Self Assessment and follow guidance for self-isolation, testing and monitoring of health. o Inform the facility (as applicable) and determine if any additional cleaning/disinfecting should be performed as per the facility’s guidelines 6.0 COVID-19 Communication Plan The Club will ensure effective communication is taking place with their club membership during the Return to Play Stages and in a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the Club. The COVID-19 Oversight Team is responsible for all COVID related communication to club members. Modification/restriction/postponing or canceling of club activities: Based on the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the club will follow public health, municipal/provincial government and sport recommendations regarding modifying/restricting/postponing or canceling activities The COVID-19 Oversight team will inform club members by email of any modifications/restrictions or cancellations of club activities The club is required to keep any modifications and restrictions in place until advised that it is safe to resume activities by public health, government or sport officials/administrators.
