COURSE PRE-REQUISITES There are no formal educational requirements for this program. Whilst NSW laws regulate the sale, consumption and provision of alcohol to people under 18 years. There is no specific advice given by the L&G NSW, Liquor Act, Liquor Regulation or Service Skills Australia about the age of participants undertaking RSA Training. Language Literacy and Numeracy: The training and assessment for this course is conducted in English only. The training package mandates that all participants seeking admission into the course have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are further explained as follows: • Adequate literacy skills are required to read and comprehend documents such as ID cards, proof of age cards, drivers licences, statutory signage, warning signs and wording within advertising or promotional material, in-house policies and procedures and any general plain English regulatory and advisory information issued by local, or state and territory liquor licensing authorities • Adequate numeracy skills are required to measure and calculate standard drinks or samples and calculate blood alcohol levels related to alcohol consumption. We will attempt to support you with English assistance, such as providing verbal assessments in English. However, should your needs for support or assistance exceed the support we can provide, we will refer you to a suitable organisation to assist further, like TAFE. COURSE STRUCTURE Course Duration: The duration of the course is at least 6.0 hours (Excluding break). Mode of Delivery: The training program is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting, typically at a Vigil Training College arranged venue or at the client’s venue. People requiring special facilities at our training venues are advised to mention their requirements in the enrolment form or contact administration staff prior to the commencement of the course to ensure that their needs are catered for. RECOGNITION OF INTERSTATE TRAINING RSA Bridging course is available for people who have already gained their RSA competencies through: • an RSA certificate or refresher certificate obtained from Victoria or Australian Capital Territory (ACT) within the last three (3) years; or • a nationally recognised SOA from Northern Territory, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, or Tasmania issued within the previous five (5) years. RSA Bridging course is quicker, easier and cheaper way for qualified interstate workers to achieve NSW RSA Competencies. The RSA Bridging course is run online by the Department (L&G NSW). Please note VIGIL only offer the classroom-based course to all our potential students with interstate qualification. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) RPL is not available for this course.
