After the song concluded, the congregation applauded the choir for a job well done. Congratulations and a heartfelt gratitude to the members of the choir for an awe-inspiring performance, and kudos to Dely Dicen and Pilar Sayoc for orchestrat- ing a very talented group. BCI Merit Scholarship The scholarship committee has announced the availability of two scholarships of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) each for the year 2011. Candidates are required to fill out an application form (www.barangayclubindy.org) together with an essay about himself and letter/s of recommendation from a teacher or other person of authority to be submitted to the chairman, Ben Abratigue. The applicants must meet the following requirements: Of Filipino/Fil-American ancestry and currently a senior student or graduate of an accredited high school. Must be children of bona fide club member. With good scholastic record and has demonstrated leadership quality/good character. Must enroll as a full time college student and be deter- mined to finish the course. Deadline for submission of application is April 30, 2010. The shortlisted applicants shall undergo a panel interview which will be the final step for the award. Everybody stood up and sang the national anthem, Lupang Hinirang at the start of the fight. The fight went on with cheers of „Manny-Manny‟, re- ferring of course to the fighter and not the home owner, and applause after each round. International Festival By: Ryan Blythe, FSA at IUPUI President With the decision of the BCI leadership to concentrate its efforts in preparation for last year‟s Christmas party and the souvenir program, participation at the 2010 Indianapolis Annual International Festival was handled by Camp Mabu- hay, PAART, PAMET, PNA, Sayaw Dance Troupe and the FSA at IUPUI with the full support of the BCI Board of Di- rectors and other individual members. Volunteers from the different groups contributed their time in the construction, set-up, decoration and manning of the very creative Philip- pine booth at the State Fairgrounds. The theme this year was „Food for Thought‟ and the Sari- Mayor Ballard and wife with volunteers at the Philippine booth sari store booth sold many of the common Philippine snacks.
