4 5 STRATEGIC PLANNING STRATEGIC PLANNING THRIVING NEIGHBOURHOODS - A PLAN FOR OUR GROWING CITY The preparation of a new Local Planning Scheme, Integrated Transport Plan and Economic Development Plan are on track. These plans will help create thriving neighbourhoods and ensure the City is prepared for a growing population. Once draft versions of the plans and scheme are prepared, the community will be invited to have their say. The City is committed to supporting local businesses who play a vital role in linking, sustaining and strengthening our community. Our Buy Local, Shop Local campaign aims to encourage the local community to shop locally and maybe discover a few local businesses you didn’t know about or may have forgotten. The campaign includes our online local business directory, street banners and a range of other promotional material for businesses to use and display to help create awareness and stimulate business. We have also been profiling some of our local businesses on our website, via social media and also on the Visit Perth website at visitperth.wa.gov.au. A mural by artist Nick Zafir is expected to be finished by late January.
