June 2021 BALANCING LOYALTY AND GROWTH IN A COMPLICATED MARKET After some serious ups and downs through 2020, we’re facing more challenges as we move into 2021. Thanks to changes in local and global markets, issues with international supply chains and logistical complications, we find ourselves with more demand than we have seen for a long time. With materials in short supply, we’re focusing on supporting our loyal customers and sourcing the products they need – to the best of our ability. We increased our purchasing level late last year, we’ve worked hard to secure supply internationally and we’re doing our best to balance logistics and pricing issues. What we didn’t count on was our competitors not doing the same – we’ve been inundated with inquiries from clients unable to meet the needs of their customers. We ask that you look after your loyal customers, and talk to us about our supply before you take on new ones. Big changes here and overseas The USA has seen unprecedented growth over the last year – more than in the last 50. New house builds are up by 66%, plywood, OSB and LVL prices have skyrocketed, and international supply has shifted to the US to meet demand. This puts Australia and NZ in short supply – even as we’re experiencing our own surge in building activity. Luckily, IBuilt has strong long-term relationships with our suppliers that will see us through. We may have restricted product volumes in some areas and significant price increases in others – whatever happens, we’ll keep you up to speed and do our best not to leave you short. Bill 021490868
Not all stock is in short supply Although supply-chain issues and global demand have reduced the availability of some products – like plywood flooring – we still have plenty of stock in other areas. • Glue Laminated posts: production is in full swing and we have stock available for all dimensions: 88X88, 112X112 and 135X135. • IBuilt CoreClad: availability of our exterior cladding has recently been boosted with the arrival of 2.4, 2.7 and 3.0m grooved CoreClad. Remember, when you order CoreClad, you need to order stainless steel flashings as well. • WallART: we have the full colour range of our WallART wet area panelling in stock. • LVL: we have recently increased LVL stock levels. Want to see if we have a particular product in stock? Our sales team can help.
The NEW IBuilt Multistrut Joist Lightweight and strong, with a larger span capacity, the new IBuilt Multistrut Joist is made for modern home construction. We partnered with Multinail to create the new design, which can be used as a joist or rafter. On to the technical details: the Multistrut is an open-webbed parallel chord floor truss joist, with steel web brackets, LVL11 top and bottom chords, and vertical webs. The open design allows building services such as plumbing, electrical and service-ducting to run between the chords without the need for drilling, notching or cutting, making it easier to install. The Multistrut joist can span up to 6m, giving designers the freedom to create larger open spaces with fewer structural elements – ideal in contemporary home builds. Want to see the Multistrut Joist for yourself? Talk to our sales team to find out more. Practicality and style at an architect’s retreat Ultim8 composite decking hit the mark during a major renovation When architects work on their own homes, standards are naturally high. That’s why Robin Baillie, of Baillie Architectural, chose Ultim8 composite decking when he undertook an extensive renovation project at his Tauranga home. Ultim8 fit the look of the build and met his stringent quality standards as well. In weathered grey, the decking melds seamlessly with the exterior of the house. Our 15-year no-fade promise makes it easy to maintain, and the lack of splintering or colour-bleeding makes it practical – particularly when Robin’s grandchildren are running around. After choosing Ultim8 and working with IBuilt, Robin is thrilled with the results get the full story here.
New warehouse extension, new warehouse manager Increasing demand for product means an increased demand for storage space – that’s why we’ve just completed a large extension to our warehouse on Kerrs Road. The purpose-built space should help us keep up with surging building activity. Meet our new warehouse manager: Phil Rosser Along with our new warehouse extension, we’ve appointed a warehouse manager – Phil Rosser. Phil has spent over 25 years in the supply and distribution industry, so he knows his stuff when it comes to keeping the warehouse ticking along. Phil has managed teams in power tool supply, and worked as a shift manager at the warehouse distribution centre – he’s used to fast-paced environments and a hands-on approach. Even better, he’s easy to talk to and has a great sense of humour – both essential qualities for the IBuilt team.
