SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY The safety and security of your children is our number one priority! In addition to the precautions we've implemented due to COVID 19, Wesleyan has taken the following measures to ensure that all of our students feel safe and protected: • Security cameras at all entrances and throughout parking lots. Cameras are monitored in the Main Office. • High Point Police Officer on-campus each school day from arrival to dismissal. • Police Pull-Stations installed throughout our school buildings. • All auxiliary doors remain locked and require a passcode for entrance. • All parents and visitors are required to sign in at the Main Office, wear name tags while on campus, and visitors must be accompanied by a staff member. • Fire drills, tornado drills, and critical incident drills are scheduled throughout the school year. • All faculty and staff are trained for critical incident preparedness, and twenty-two (22) staff members are identified as “Emergency Responders.” • Three (3) Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located across campus. • Five (5) Epi-Pens are located across campus. • All classrooms lock from the inside and have coverings for the door window. • High Point Police Department has held critical incident training on Wesleyan’s campus after hours. • Exterior security checks take place nightly. VISITOR SIGN IN Wesleyan receives visitors to our school every day. During COVID 19, we are taking extra precautions to maintain the health and well-being of our school community in the following ways: all guests and visitors will have their temperatures taken, sign off on a waiver indicating they have not experienced COVID related symptoms in the past 14 days and will be required to wear a mask throughout their visit on campus. Our car dismissal line and pick-up procedures have been created to provide student safety and parent convenience. ATHLETIC TRAINER / SPORTS MEDICINE OFFICE Wesleyan is also blessed to have an Athletic Trainer on campus to help our student-athletes. Mr. Nip Pesayanavin serves our students by providing precautionary steps to avoid injury and also when needed, injury assessment and treatment. Mr. Pesayanavin is in attendance at every home game and maintains our Sports Medicine Office on the second floor of our High School Gym. The faculty and staff at Wesleyan Christian Academy recognize that all students learn differently and that God created each one fearfully, wonderfully, and perfectly in His image. Because of His perfect plan for your child, we recognize the importance of meeting students where they are academically and providing the following services to bridge any existing educational gaps. IN-CLASS ACCOMMODATIONS like preferential seating are always available for students who simply need minor accommodations to help them reach their fullest academic potential. RESOURCE CLASSES are offered to students who may need just a bit of additional academic assistance in the subjects of Reading and Math (1st - 4th) or English and Math (5th - 12th). Our Resource Classes are pull-out classes that will occur during your student’s school day. There is an additional charge for these classes that is billed monthly. THE ENRICHMENT CENTER at Wesleyan Christian Academy provides quality, college-preparatory instruction from certified LD Teachers to students with mild to moderate diagnosed learning differences. Enrichment students need help in subject areas other than English and Math and need assistance beyond what our Resource Teachers can provide. Wesleyan students can take as few as 1 core class or as many as 6 core classes in the Enrichment Center as it is fully integrated into the traditional K-12 Academy. There is an additional charge for these classes. INTERVENTION/EXTENSION HOURS will be part of our elementary school curriculum beginning in August 2020. Each week our elementary students who have mastered a particular grade-level concept will have the opportunity to work beyond their grade-level during a teacher-led, dedicated Extension hour. During the exact same time frame, our elementary students who might need just a bit of additional instruction on a grade-level concept will have the option of revisiting that particular concept with a grade- level teacher during our Intervention hour. HOMEWORK ROOMS for elementary students will be offered as part of our formal After School Program. Middle School students have the opportunity to sign up for a homework room on an as-needed basis. Mrs. Martha Eanes, Speech and Language Therapist specializes in pragmatic, conversational language skills, auditory processing disorders, phonological processing, visualizations of verbal language, and diagnostics. Mrs. Eanes offers these services at a reduced rate to Wesleyan families and can be scheduled during your child’s school day. The amount of money that families qualify to receive is more than double the 9/17/20 ENR Enrichment Center money available to award through financial aid. Without the support of generous donors like you, many families might have to withdraw from Wesleyan. No gift is too big or too small to help a family. 1ST-4TH GRANDPARENTS HONOR DAY 9/18/20 ES Elementary School FACULTY ENDOWMENT Wesleyan’s faculty endowment fund is used to honor innovation, FCA Fellowship of Christian Athletes provide special recognition, and provide professional development opportunities to our amazing SPIRIT WEEK & HOMECOMING teachers. 9/28/20 - 10/3/20 FKC Farlow Kennedy Center THE LEGACY SOCIETY The Legacy Society has been established at Wesleyan Christian Academy BOOK FAIR HS High School as a means to provide special recognition of those individuals who have included us in their estate 11/16/20 - 11/20/20 K1 First Year Kindergarten planning. SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK 1/12/21 - 1/14/21 K2 Second Year Kindergarten UPDATE ON OUR SANDY RIDGE CAMPUS In His perfect timing, the Lord provided 71 acres in the “Heart of the Triad” at the corner of Sandy Ridge Road and Johnson Street. This new property MIP Moms In Prayer frees us from previous constraints and will allow us to faithfully seek God’s direction for expansion HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and other exciting educational opportunities. 2/25/21 - 2/28/21 MS Middle School The true “first phase” of this development was obtaining the land in 2010. Since 2012, we have gone ES SCIENCE FAIR NCAIS North Carolina Association of through the process of zoning, architectural renderings, engineering studies, etc. In August 2014, we 2/24/21 - 2/26/21 Independent Schools entered into the “quiet phase” of this campaign, meeting with the first of our donors one-on-one to NCISAA North Carolina Independent Schools share the vision of the development of this property. In March 2018, we started the “public phase” JUNIOR/SENIOR BANQUET Athletic Association of this campaign, sharing the vision with all of our families and asking them to prayerfully consider 4/17/21 PTO Parent Teacher Organization providing support. Phase 1 of construction was completed in April of 2019. K - 8 STANDARDIZED TESTING STEM Science Technology Engineering and Math Finding the right words to appropriately express our gratitude to the Lord for moving the hearts of 4/19/21 - 4/21/21 so many supporters is tough to do! At the end of May 2018, over $6.5 million has been raised and WCA Wesleyan Christian Academy committed to this project. Many thanks to the families who have prayed for and given generously ELEMENTARY SPRING MUSICAL toward the Building for the Next Generation Capital Campaign. Farlow Kennedy Center CONTINUOUS ENROLLMENT FOR RETURNING STUDENTS Wesleyan uses a Continuous Enrollment process to re-enroll all current students for the next school year. This means that all current students, eligible to return will be automatically re-enrolled each year until graduated, and your account will be billed the continuous enrollment fee on February 15 each year. If your circumstances change and you do not plan on returning to Wesleyan, simply submit our School Withdrawal Form by February 1, and you will not be charged the continuous enrollment fee. AFFORDING TUITION Wesleyan Christian Academy recognizes that some families may need financial assistance in order to provide a quality, Christian-based, college-preparatory education for their children.
