GETTING HERE The theatre is located in the main square of Dundrum Town Centre, outside by the Mill Pond and restaurants. Luas: Green line from St Stephen’s Green to Dundrum (it takes approx. 20 minutes from St. Stephen’s Green) You can also get off at Balally and walk through Dundrum Town Centre. Bus: 14, 17, 44, 75 Car from M50: Exit at junction 13, follow the signs for Dundrum Town Centre/ Green car park. Car from Dublin City: Follow the N11 to junction with Fosters Avenue. Turn right and follow R112 until junction with Taney Road. Turn Left and make another left at the first traffic signals onto R117 and follow the road into Dundrum. PARKING The most convenient place to park is the Green Car Park of the shopping centre. This may be accessed from Ballinteer Road and the Dundrum Bypass. Parking Rates: 8am - 6pm: 23 for the first hour, and the 2nd and 3rd hours are free, 23 per every hour after the 3rd hour until 6pm. 6pm - 11pm: 23 flat rate. 11pm - 8am: Free parking. Y/ L We have so many exciting events coming up with Fri 19th & something to suit everyone so, whether you like Sat 20th, Jan Comedy, Music or a little bit of Drama, I hope you will 8pm enjoy browsing through this season’s programme. Auditorium The Box Office and Front of House Team consist of a small but very hardworking staff – Bairbre, Nicky, tickets Sarah, Shane, Ross, Hannah and Scarlet- and of course Exx an integral part of our team are our Volunteers. We are lucky to have a dedicated team who give their free time to make sure that everything runs smoothly for each performance and that every patron receives the highest level of customer service. Thank you all for the warmth, enthusiasm and energy you bring to the theatre! Workshops are led by experienced facilitators and designed to engage the student creatively by exploring characters, themes and language of the chosen text. live music Legends of Folk Sept with Anne Randolph Thurs 6th 8pm Auditorium Tickets E20 Legends of Folk celebrates the many fine Irish/Celtic and American Folk artists who have given us songs to stir our hearts. Anne brings the songs of Irish folk legends Mick Hanly and Jimmy McCarthy and blends these with the works of some of America’s greats – Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Judy Collins and more. The band also has some Irish and American greats – Keith Donald on Clarinet, Garvan Gallagher on Double Bass, Vera Craughell on Accordion and Matthew Mazanek on classical guitar. A special evening of songs, stories and superb music is promised. comedy/drama What Would Ma Say? january Sept Fri Sat19th 8th & L Sat 20th 8pm 8pm Auditorium Auditorium Tickets tickets E18 / E16 Exx “What Would Ma Say”, gives an honest yet humorous glimpse into life in an impoverished 1950s and 60s Dublin as seen through the eyes of writer Kathleen Doyle. Born into a tenement house in Dublin City before moving out to Crumlin with her family, Kathleen was one of twelve children and was always “the big sister”, she was the one her siblings turned to while her parents Phil and Lil struggled to make ends meet in an Ireland many of us wouldn’t recognise today. Her mother Lil is shown as the backbone of the family, the one who kept them together while her father Phil worked all manner of jobs to try to keep their heads above water. 6

The play is a comical yet poignant look at life from childhood in the 1950s to the present day. It is written and narrated by Jean Farrell, with supporting actress/singer Catherine Gallagher. The play tells the story of six girls christened Mary. Excerpts from diaries are interspersed with songs and soundtracks from the different eras. The audience is brought on a journey depicting the social history of the time: the comics, the catechism and the stork; the nuns, the processions and the gym slips; the hops, the hopes and the ‘big day’; the babies, the teenagers and reality. I’m falling between the cracks in myself, and I don’t know how to crawl back out… Quintessence Theatre use their innovative physical ensemble story-telling techniques mingled with multi-media platforms of film and music to poignantly explore the profound struggle individuals with mental illness face on a daily basis in Ireland today. In this darkly comical and deeply moving new play an unsuccessful suicide attempt leaves young Leanne Dowd estranged and attempting to pick up the pieces of a life still shattered by mental illness. 7

Show time: 80 minutes live music An Evening with Nov St John’s Gospel Choir Thurs 1st with Special Guest, Raphaela Mangan 8pm Auditorium Tickets E16 / E14 St. John’s Gospel Choir Ballinteer, was founded in 2009. Our musical director is Mary O’Gorman. We are largely a community choir numbering 80, including musicians. We have performed for Pope Francis in Rome, President Michael D. Higgins at Trinity College Dublin, and audiences at the National Concert Hall and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We also performed at European venues during our tours of Rome, Florence, Vienna and Salzburg. In 2019 we intend touring Seville and Malaga as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations. Our special guest is Irish Mezzo Soprano Raphaela Mangan. 14

The festival offers an opportunity to see 9 plays produced by drama groups from around Ireland in one whirlwind weekend. Each night will consist of three one act plays followed by an informative review by Festival Adjudicator, Ciaran McCauley. Shows will start promptly at 8pm on Friday and Saturday night and 7pm on Sunday night drama Chromatics Nov Mon 5th - Sat 10th L 8pm Auditorium Tickets E16 / E14 Written and composed by Shauna Carrick and directed by Andrew Keates, Chromatics returns after sell out performances in April this year along with a successful outing at the West End’s Other Palace. James is trying to create his first masterpiece, while Al is ready to fly the nest for the big city. As for Kate, she’s just trying to hold it all together. This is a story about graduating, dreaming big and slowly realising that “it” may not happen, at least not as planned. Aspirations swiftly dashed, plans pulverised and unexpected ultimatums, we follow a group of friends as they journey through their new unknown. A story where everyone screws up. But with songs. 15

You too can become a science wizard and amaze your family and friends. classical drama music One Half Flew LightOver Nov The Cuckoo’s Nest Tues 13th - L Sat 17th 8pm Auditorium Tickets E16 \ E14 Following from their successful run of ‘Bookworms’ in May, Glencullen Dundrum are thrilled to be back on the dlr Mill Theatre stage with ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ written by Dale Wasserman (adapted from the novel by Ken Kesey) and directed by Bernard Doyle. In order to escape six months labour duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a ward for the mentally unstable. Once here, McMurphy both endures and stands witness to the abuse and degradation of the oppressive Nurse Ratched, who gains superiority and power through the flaws of the other inmates. 17

A tale as old as time, featuring a host of well-loved characters and lovable crockery! Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle and the dreaded Beast in his lonely castle. Belle is beautiful, the Beast is – ahem – beastly and Gaston is still totally in love, with himself! A story of friendship and love, mixing magic and adventure with spectacular song and dance routines and special effects to entertain all the family!
