Annual Training Calendar 2019-2020 About NPTI National Power Training Institute(NPTI) has been established by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Power, vide the Gazette of India, July 3, 1993, to function as the National apex body for Human Resource Development of Indian Power Sector. NPTI is the world’s leading integrated power training institute with its HQ at Faridabad and operates on all India basis through its institutes in the different regions/power zones of the country viz.,New Delhi, Durgapur, Nagpur, Neyveli, Bangalore, Nangal and Guwahati. These institutes are fully equipped with latest state-of-the-art training infrastructure. NPTI has more than 50 years of professional expertise in the field of training and HRD in power sector with industry specific technical interface and is the only institute of its kind in India catering to the core power and allied energy sector. Institutes of NPTI are also equipped with Computer based Full Scope Replica Simulators of 210 MW/500 MW / 800 MW Fossil Fuel Thermal Power Plant to provide off job hands on training to improve the reflexes of engineers in emergent / normal operation situations of a power plant. NPTI is establishing two new institutes at Alappuzha (Kerala) and Shivpuri (M.P.) which would be operational shortly. NPTI is playing a pioneering role to prepare the manpower not only for the existing thermal, hydro, gas based plants but also for the upcoming renewable energy sector in a dedicated manner to achieve energy independence and grid compatibility with smart power control technology. Training Courses Post Graduate Diploma Course (PGDC) - One year full time course on Thermal Power Plant Engineering is running since 1996-97 in different regional Institutes including NPTI (ER). NPTI has also started PGDC Programs in Smart Grid Technology, Power System Operation, Energy Market Management, Renewable energy and Grid interface technology from the year 2017-18. Admission to these PG Course is open for graduates of full time B.Tech./B.E.or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics &Instrumentation/Electrical & Electronic/Electronics & Communication / Power Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering as applicable selected through common entrance test (CET) for which advertisement appears in leading national newspapers / Employment News in the month of March/April. Every year these courses start in August. Post Diploma Course (PDC) in Power Plant Engineering - One year full time course is running since 2001 in NPTI (ER), Durgapur along with other Institutes for candidates with three years full time Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering. Every year the course starts in August and admission to this Post Diploma course is on merit basis for which advertisement appears in leading national newspaper / Employment News in the month of May/June. 3

Executive Engineer (GTO) of JUVNL undergone 6 weeks Induction Training Long Term & Short Term training program for Utilities - NPTI(ER), Durgapur conducts many long term, medium term and short term training programs on Power Plant Engineering and related areas where individuals from different power utilities attend. NPTI Durgapur regularly conducts programs for various Central/State public sector and private sector organizations on Power Generation, Power Transmission and Power Distribution,Energy efficiency, Solar Power Generation Technology, Solar PV Rooftop, Entrepreneurship Development Program on Solar PV System. Annual Training Calendar 2019-2020 Power Plant / Sub-Station Visits NPTI (ER) organizes visits to various Power Generating Stations, Substations , Switchyard, GIS Sub-Station, Load despatch Cenrtres,Solar PV Panel manufacturing units etc. as per the requirement in different training programs. Annual Training Calendar 2019-2020 Workshop & Laboratories The laboratories and workshop are prerequisites for providing off-job, hands-on training in the maintenance aspects. The NPTI (ER) has built well equipped laboratories and workshops for imparting training to Technicians, Operators and Engineers in various aspects of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Some of the areas where expertise has been built up are : Mechanical Workshop : Maintenance workshops equipped with facility of welding (Arc & Gas), Machine shop and arrangement for checking of shaft alignment and cutsection of valves, pumps etc. .Electrical Workshop : Electrical laboratories with facilities for testing and calibration of electrical equipments including Single & Three Phase Energy Meters Calibrartion with MRI Testing. Facility is also available for Simulation & Modeling of Electrical Network with the help Mi Power software. It is also having CT’s, Pt’s, different type of motors, relays and transformers for training / demonstration purpose. Control & Instrumentation Lab. : Control and Instrument lab with facilities for measurement of Temperature, Pressure, flow and PID Controller, DCS and PLC etc. Power Distribution Lab.: A lab with the facilities for practicing digging holes, erection of poles, fixing different fittings on poles, stringing and installation of overhead conductors including Arial Bunch Cables (ABC) etc. Model Room : Institute is having model room equipped with working models of Coal Mill, Boiler Feed Pump, Air Preheater, Condensate Extraction Pump, Circuit Breakers, Energy Meters, Relays & Electrical Safety equipments etc. Computer Lab.: A well equipped computer lab with latest generation of computing facilities is available for training on soft skills and other advance software based training programs. Annual Training Calendar 2019-2020 Multi functional Simulator (210 MW/500 MW/800 MW) has been established in the institute to train fresh engineers as well as working power plant personals on a full scope replica simulator in all aspects of operation as well as for developing suitable response to malfunctions and emergency situations by Hands-on-Practice in all the phase of operation from start-up to shut-down including fault simulation & emergencies. Simulator Room Library : Institute Library has been the life-line for the Training & Academic activities of the Institute. It has huge collection of books more than 10,000 on Engineering, Science & Technology and Management which collectively support teaching and learning programs at the institutes. It maintains collection of NPTI publications on various topics related ot the power sector which have been designed and compiled by the faculty members of NPTI. It also has collection of books on Moden Power Station Practice by British Electricity International, London, UK. It has a wide collection of training manuals & diagrams, published by NTPC, BHEL, DVC, CESC covering modern power plants and their statistical parameters. NPTI (ER) also subscribes National and International periodicals in the field of Power Plant Technology, Management, Renewable Energy, Hydro Power, Power Transmission, Power Distribution and Smart Grid Technology. CBT Package : NPTI(ER) has developed computer based multimedia packages on different components of Power Plant Engineering including Substation Equipments, Switchgear etc. Institute Library 11
Annual Training Calendar 2019-2020 Infra-structural Facilities Hostels are available at NPTI (ER) to accommodate about 400 trainees. All Hostels are equipped with wifi facility.
