Protecting Our Trees: How to Spot Oak Wilt Oak wilt is a fungal disease that affects oak trees. It is easily trans- ferred through connecting root systems, as well as through insects, trimming tools, and other means of contact, transferring the fungi from tree to tree. Oak trees make up 10% of Austin’s tree canopy. If left unchecked, oak wilt can cause severe and costly impacts in our community.
