 4 - STEP PROCESS
STEP 1
The mayor of Campinas, city in the coutry side of
São Paulo state, signs term of commitment with
Amazon Friendly Cities program
STEP 2
After the public commitment, the admnistration of
the city of Manaus establishes an internal
Working Group to draft the procurement policy

 Paulo Adário, from Greenpeace, and the Mayor of Manaus
STEP 3
The Working Group sends the procurement policy
to local chamber of deputies, such as it happened
in the city of Piracicaba
STEP 4
The chamber of deputies of the city of Botucatu
approves procurement policy and becomes an
Amazon Friendly City.

community based forest management, recycling and
reuse of timber products and technological
improvements for the timber industry (e.g. diversifying
the use of species).

LABOUR : Declared support from the a major labour
union (CONTICOM) wich represents over 400,000
workers on the timber and construction industries all
over Brazil.
