Its lines recall medieval and Renaissance architectural features, an eclectic combination not unpleasant although sometimes approximate. Around 1926 the building was completed with a tower with simple and three-lights windows. It now hosts temporary exhibitions and the Section of Contemporary Art, of Graphics and Photography of the City Art Gallery, Osservatorio Alpinistico Lecchese and Polo della Montagna, where artifacts and documents belonging to CAI Lecco are collected. • Open from 4th June to 30th August: on Thursday from 14:30 to 18:30, on Friday from 10:00 to 13:00, on Saturday and Sunday from 14:30 to 18:30. • Closed: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. • Admission until 30th August 2020: free and only by reservation only online https://sro4.mioticket.it/MuseiLecco/, with an articulation of the entrances every hour. Opened in January 2005, the Planetarium is situated in a completely new wing of the Palace and it represents one of the best structures of this type in Italy. The room shows an exhibition of astronomical equipment (binoculars, telescopes, etc.) and reproduces the sky as it appears to the naked eye, with extreme realism and charm. But the heart of the Planetarium is the computerized projection system of the latest generation which can project the image of 3200 stars on a dome which acts as a screen. The Planetarium organizes projections, conferences and observations for adults and students. DERVIO Castello di Corenno (Castle of Corenno) Corenno Plinio district For information: Public Library - Phone +39 0341 804113 www.dervio.org - biblioteca@comune.dervio.lc.it It is a private building constructed on roman foundation with an irregular square plant. The building, which has crown walls with battlements to protect the round parapet, can be dated between 1360 and 1370. It is a typical castle-enclosure, which is a fortification built as a shelter for the population in case of attack. The material used for the construction are the same in kind those used for the “galllicus opus”, such as rocks dug on site or picked up by the lake shore. It has two towers: one is flat (open inside) towering over the only opening that faces the town, while the other is squared shape towards the north east corner. The moat surrounding the castle, mentioned in the “Statuto del Comune di Dervio” of 1389, was eliminated between 1825 and 1830 for the construction of the military road (now the provincial road 72). The village of Corenno, with its typical alleys carved into the rock, was subsequently built up from the castle. • Open on 6th July, 22nd August and 5th September and perhaps even on 3rd October. For information: Phone +39 0341 804450 - www.dervio.org - presidente.proloco.dervio@outlook.it The original construction of the church of St. Thomas of Canterbury is probably dated around 12th century. The building is located near the walls of a castle, large complex built by Andreani family. Over the centuries it has undergone several restorations: the façade, several times remodelled, now has a portal dating back to 1698. Around the same era were built two chapels, one dedicated to St. Joseph, the other to the Virgin Mary. In 1966 various frescoes were brought to light on the side walls of the nave, dated between '300 and' 500. Of great value are the two funerary monuments, called "Arche", attached to the façade which, together with the third on the walls of the Castle, are important examples of Lombard Gothic sculpture. • Open on 6th July, 22nd August and 5th September and perhaps even on 3rd October. Promoted and built by Casati family before 1062, it played the stately chapel function of the same family, whose coat of arms is found in a carved stone, inserted into the bell, presumably from the Romanesque period. In ancient times there were tombs inside and outside the building: it was Casati knights, three of which were found in 1720, while widening the access road to the property Lurani.
