MAY 2020 • VOLUME 16 SEGURA RIVERLINK LIFE 12 ENV/ES/1140 Introduction In order to raise the communication strategy of the LIFE + RIVELINK project and establish the specific objectives of this Communication Plan, we will first contextualize it within the project and the overall objectives that it pursues. Afterwards, we will talk about the objectives that were established in the project proposal for this work package and its execution. And then, we will address the strategy of communication, monitoring and dissemination, for the future. Objetives The main objective of LIFE + SEGURA RIVERLINK has been to validate and demonstrate 3 different management tools that help to implement a "green" infrastructure approach to the current recovery process of the Segura River, which is one of the most regulated European level. This river, traditionally has suffered from serious problems of connectivity derived from the artificial obstacles created by the human being for the "FLUVIAL use of water resources. This new sustainable approach has reinforced the implementation of the European CONNECTIVITY" Water Framework Directive (the WFD, in its English acronym). Thus, the project will validate and demonstrate three different related tools: Elimination of a disused dam Construction of steps for the traffic of fish, which allow their natural migrations Fluvial restoration through practices that support the other two tools. These three solutions have been applied in selected locations (approximately 70 km section), which include protected and unprotected areas among the T.M. of Archena and Moratalla in the Region of Murcia. Finally, the project has proposed action in the urban area, with the fundamental objective of increasing dissemination among the general public. This objective has had the purpose of being able to apply these tools in the entire Segura river basin through a comprehensive plan, which is why a thorough monitoring and monitoring of the results has been carried out during the development of the project. In order to give ustainability to the actions carried out, the creation of a network of custody of the territory has been proposed.
Specific objectives of the project Demonstrate that the tools used increase the permeability of the river and its longitudinal continuity, recovering the natural ecosystem and increasing the mobility of the species along the river. Demonstrate that the tools revert landscape fragmentation, recovering the element of "green corridor" characteristic of the river, as well as the connectivity between the protected areas. Increase the resilience of the ecosystem and its communities, which is very sensitive in rivers due to its linear structure. Validate an integrated approach that integrates the land uses associated with the state of the river, thus promoting sustainable practices. Integrate the "green" infrastructure approach to the Segura River Basin Hydrological Plan (or RBMP, in its English acronym), applying the validated tools throughout the basin. DDevelop a network of custody of the territory to involve private owners in the management of the river, increasing the links between the river and the adjoining territories. Increase social involvement in the management of the Segura river.
MAY 2020 • VOLUME 16 SEGURA RIVERLINK LIFE 12 ENV/ES/1140 Project communication strategies During the project: 1 The general dissemination plan of the LIFE + SEGURA RIVERLINK project has been divided into three phases: project presentation phase; development phase; Dissemination phase of the project results (closing phase). The materials, activities and tools that were established as objective, have been the following - A communication plan; - Design and development of the corporate identity of the project, including the logo, slogan and project brochures; - Web page; - Development and management of social network profiles, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn; "MORE THAN 60 - Distribution list by e-mail; - Articles, scientific publications and other publications KILOMETERS OF that have disseminated the objectives, progress and results of the project to a broad audience; CONNECTED RIVER" - Publication of periodic reports on the results; - Recordings of radio and TV interviews, aimed at different audiences; - Layman's report, in at least 4 different languages; - An after-life communication plan, in which the different actions have been established to continue with the activities of the project beyond the end of it; - 8 information boards that have been placed in strategic places such as the experimentation sites with information on the objectives, activities and results of the project; - 2 information boards with visual elements of the corporate identity of the project, which, as in the previous case, has been located in strategic places and in the planned events; - Organization of workshops (at least 6 in Murcia, 3 in other parts of Spain and 4 in other countries or Brussels). - At least 15 training and information courses for active interested publics, such as technicians and volunteers, to accompany them throughout the process of involvement and learning. - Attendance to fairs and conferences to present the project activities and results. Being an objective, the diffusion these participations through scientific
MAY 2020 • VOLUME 16 SEGURA RIVERLINK LIFE 12 ENV/ES/1140 - Technical material developed for networking activities; - A traveling presentation printed on vinyl, consisting of 9 panels that will show the environmental problems of the Segura River and the Natura 2000 spaces, the solutions proposed by the LIFE + SEGURA RIVERLINK project and its results. This presentation has been shown in the socio-environmental area of the project; - "Manual for the elimination of exotic species", which includes the treatments used in the section of the Segura River studied in the project and its results. This action has facilitated the transfer of this model to other sections of the basin; - "Forest recovery manual", which includes the repopulation models used in the section of the River Segura studied, as well as the methodology chosen for the selection of species. This publication facilitates the transfer of this model to other sections of the basin. 2- Environmental Education Program in schools and educational centers. This program has been developed "MORE by ANSE and its main task is to provide greater knowledge to interested agents who can directly THAN 7.000 contribute to the perpetuation of the results obtained, such as technicians, volunteers, professors, etc .; PARTICIPANTS" 3- Program for social involvement in the project (volunteering). This program has been developed by ANSE and has sought the support and participation of other NGOs committed to volunteering activities within the framework of the project, as well as individuals interested in participating, since these actors are potential opinion leaders and recruiters of other alliances.

THE FUTUR PLAN AFTER LIFE COMMUNICATION OBJECTIVES Once the actions that make up the project have been executed, four main guidelines have been considered for monitoring and monitoring compliance with the objectives set out in the Riverlink project, as well as for communication and dissemination of the results obtained. These lines are: 1) Improvement of the ecological status and connectivity of the Segura River Fulfillment of the criteria for the resumption of fish fauna established in the Hydrological Plan of the Segura basin In point 4, of article 32 of the Hydrographic Plan of the Segura basin; It is established that: "In the stretches of river designated as mass of water, the dams of less than 17 meters high on the channel, as well as the weirs of flowing waters, must have a lift for the fish fauna. This lift should be designed to allow the passage of native fauna and make it difficult for invasive alien species to pass through. To ensure compliance, a periodic monitoring will be carried out for this type of dams and weirs, in order to ensure the established in it and thus improve the permeability between stretches and water bodies Budget: €0 Periodicity: Semiannual in the planning planning cycle 2015-2021
MAY 2020 • VOLUME 16 SEGURA RIVERLINK LIFE 12 ENV/ES/1140 Preparation of projects and restoration actions It is planned to develop projects and actions that expand the area of action of the project and complement or enhance those already executed. During 2017, a work was executed in Cieza in order to complement the actions already executed. Budget: € 200,000 Periodicity: Annual in the planning cycle 2015-2021 2) Monitoring of the operation of fish scales. Biological monitoring of the University of Murcia An annual evaluation will be carried out, during the spawning period, of the fish scales to verify their use by the ichthyofauna to overcome the obstacle that is intended to permeate.
