I always had a passion for hair so decided to learn more and achieve a qualification that would enable me to work in a salon. My teachers are great and really support me and are understanding of my life outside of college. I’ve made some good friends at college and I now feel more like me, and not just a working mum. I’ve really enjoyed the whole experience, learning new skills and meeting new people.” 3

Nicole Brookes Studying Level 4 AAT Accounting “I chose to enhance my career prospects going back to work after having my child. Beforehand I was mostly doing admin roles with little scope for progression and limited earning potential. I started by studying the Level 3 AAT Accounting at Strode on an apprenticeship, where I was taken on by a local accountancy practice. After my apprenticeship finished they kept me on, and paid for me to continue my studies on the Level 4 AAT course. I have found Strode College to be friendly, organised and supportive. My lecturer has been amazing - I couldn’t have come this far without his knowledge and support. There are so many aspects to accountancy that I never realised. It is a fantastic basis for a wide variety of job choices. I am loving my new career and couldn’t have achieved what I have so far without the learning and practical skills acquired at the College. I hope to progress further in my accountancy career with my current employer.” 11
