We’ll continue by road to Chandigarh, designed by the Swiss-French modernist architect, Le Corbusier. The next day we journey on to Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh in the Himalayan foothills and once the summer capital of British India. Westward then to Palampur in the beautiful Kangra Valley, surrounded by tea gardens and pine forests with incomparable views of the Dhauladhar mountain range. Here we’ll visit an Artist’s Colony in a traditional Indian village with its art gallery and well-known pottery. Culminating for this part of the journey with Dharamsala, home to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama we’ll immerse ourselves in the Tibetan community, its Buddhist culture and crafts, learning about the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, visiting temples, monasteries and nunneries.
