The International Atlantic Economic Society is pleased to announce the annually held 18th Best Undergraduate Paper Award Competition, sponsored by EconSources.com The winner to be selected Saturday, October 2022, at the 94th International Atlantic Economic Conference. Do you know of any talented economics students? Encourage them to submit their research and compete in the 2022 Best Undergraduate Paper Award Competition to win prizes at the 94th International Atlantic Economic Conference, October 2022! COMPETITION INFORMATION To encourage undergraduate interest in economic issues, Philippe Martin, President, and Dimitri Vayanos, Vice President, of the International Atlantic Economic Society cordially invite students to compete in the annual Best Undergraduate Paper Award Competition. The competition is open to any undergraduate student of economics or related fields. The winner of the competition will receive: ◊ A $1000 check; ◊ A handsome commemorative plaque; ◊ Complimentary publication of their paper in the Atlantic Economic Journal.
To be considered for this competition, all entries must follow the guidelines below: 1. The paper must conform to AEJ manuscript style instructions, be 10 - 20 pages in length including tables, and be submitted in MS Word format. Papers not following these guidelines will be rejected. AEJ instructions can be found at: http://www.iaes.org/how-to-apply/ 2. Submit the paper to journals@iaes.org by 15 June 2022 with the subject line: “Best Undergraduate Paper Competition - Last Name of Student”. Please send the paper in a Microsoft Word document. PDF files are NOT acceptable. Title page must include (a) full name of student; (b) affiliation; (c) e-mail address; and (d) phone number. 3. Include an e-mail from the Department Chair certifying (a) that the paper was written while the author was an undergraduate; (b) that the department will sponsor the student’s hotel and travel if the student is selected as a finalist; and (c) that the paper has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. If the Department Chair is unable to sponsor student travel occurring after graduation, provide a separate letter from an alternative sponsor (Department Chair of the graduate program in which the student will be enrolled at the time of the conference or employer after graduation) specifying that the department or employer will sponsor the student’s hotel and travel if the student is selected as a finalist. 4. Up to four finalists will be notified of their selection by 15 August 2022. Finalists will be required to make a formal presentation at the 94th International Atlantic Economic Conference. Conference fees for all finalists will be waived. 5. Finalists will be judged on both presentation and content. A panel of judges will announce the winning paper following the oral presentations. These grants allow people to join us who might not otherwise be able to attend the conference. Please consider contributing to the Society’s grant fund. As a “Thank You,” all donations of at least $100 will receive a $10 IAES gift certificate to be used for any Society service or activity over the next year! Your name will be listed on the “Friends of the Society” page in both the AEJ and IAER, on our website, and in our conference program. DONATE Journal Internship The Clarence C. Morrison Journal Internship was established in 2009 to honor the former IAES President and long-time member of the Atlantic Economic Journal Board of Editors. Presented annually, the internship enables a university student to gain valuable experience publishing an economics journal. Your contributions to this worthy cause are tax deductible under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Clarence C. Morrison served as the Society’s Vice President between 1979-1980 and as President between 1995-1996. Professor Morrison joined the International Atlantic Economic Society in 1977 when he was invited to be a one of our AEJ Board of Editors.
