8-days on the "Ice Field Trails", Motorcycle Tours Canada Duration Difficulty Support vehicle 8 días Normal-Hard Nej Language Guide en Ja This 8-day motorcycle tour of Central / Northern Alberta & British Columbia in Western Canada gives you a close-up view of beautiful scenery ranging from rolling prairie to rugged mountains. You will experience riding through the rugged Canadian Rockies, rolling foot hills, endless northern forests, while enjoying great roads ranging from gentle sweeping corners to twisty sections intermixed with fantastic scenery. Picking up your touring motorcycle and leaving Calgary AB, you will ride through the rolling foothills & prairies of the Central / Northern Alberta; home to many large cattle ranchers and wide-open prairie vistas. Experience the Canadian bush and wild life up close. The roads in AB & BC are in good condition with light traffic out of the cities. Other than road repairs you will not be required to ride on any unsealed roads. This tour is approx. 1,855 km (1,146 mi) This tour is suitable for Intermediate or Advanced riders only. Tight corners with high elevations require close attention to detail. Note: Canada drivers, drive on the right-hand side of the road.
Itinerary 1 - Calgary International Airport - Calgary - 25 Calgary (25 kilometers / 15 miles / 0.25 hour riding time) After arriving at Calgary International Airport, you will be met at the airport and shuttled to your hotel to check in and then to pick up your bike. Today is set aside to allow you to settle in and rest up before the adventure begins tomorrow. The day will include a safety meeting to review road rules and safety requirements and a “Get to know you” dinner. 2 - Calgary - Saskatchewan River Crossing - 375 Calgary to Saskatchewan crossing Alberta (375 kilometers / 233 miles) Leaving your hotel and the city behind you, you will head north-west out into the prairies that make up a large part of Alberta. Turning west, you will begin climbing higher as you enter the mountain passes. Along the way, you will stop for breaks and lunch as you settle into the tour and grab some photos of the amazing scenery. The roads are in good condition and along the way, you will enjoy stops alongside mountain lakes and viewing areas. After entering a national park, today's ride will end in a peaceful location, where you will be surrounded by mountains and wildlife. You will be riding for about 4 hours and 20 minutes. 3 - Saskatchewan River Crossing - Valemount - 505 Saskatchewan Crossing to Tete Jaune Cache/Valemount (505 kilometers / 312 miles) After breakfast, you will ride along the “Icefield Parkway” which climbs over many passes, giving you fantastic views and great photo opportunities. Along the way, you can choose to stop for a walk on a glacier, visit majestic waterfalls, and ride through thick northern forests before stopping for the night. You will be riding for about 5 hours and 30 minutes. 4 - Valemount - Kamloops - 341 Tete Jaune Cache / Valemount to Kamloops (341 kilometers / 211 miles) Turning south-west and following the great roads through the quiet mountain passes, this road will take you past beautiful lakes and fantastic mountain scenery. You will be riding for about 4 hours. 5 - Kamloops - Radium Hot Springs - 467 Kamloops to Radium Hot Springs (467 kilometers / 288 miles) Head out in the clear morning and ride north and then east to follow the main Trans-Canada Highway for a while through lush mountain forests before turning south and stopping for the night in a sleepy mountain town. A soak in the hot pools followed by a relaxing dinner ends a great day. You will be riding for about 5 hours and 30 minutes. 6 - Radium Hot Springs - Radium Hot Springs - 60 Radium Hot Springs - rest day (60 kilometers / 37 miles) Today is a free day for you to catch up on all those important things like sorting out photos, writing down all the key points, and even getting that pesky laundry taken care of. You can enjoy exploring the local area or have another soak in the hot springs. You will be riding for about 1 hour.
7 - Radium Hot Springs - Calgary - 309 Radium Hot Springs to Calgary (309 Kilometers / 191 miles) Leaving town and heading east takes you into world-famous Banff National Park towards the township of Banff. Stops along the way showcase these massive mountains and put you in the center of one of the most beautiful parts of the Canadian Rockies. This is a low mileage day. However, with the numerous stops made, it is a full day. Leaving the park and following the highway will bring you back to Calgary for your stop for the day. A group farewell dinner brings this day to pleasant close. You will be riding for about 3 hours and 30 minutes. 8 - Calgary - Calgary International Airport - 25 Hotel to the airport via bike rental location After a relaxing breakfast and a short ride, you will catch your shuttle to the airport. This shuttle ride is filled with talk about the adventures you've just had and fun experienced.
