                                   About me
Hi! I am Bettina Schulenberg and my ART Workshop has been an SLO activity
for a couple of years now. I am a painter myself and I love doing art with young
people. As a Mom with a son at ISR I wanted to offer both a relaxing and an
educational activity to promote creative intelligence and understanding of
basic painting skills. My gallery and art studio

at Hermannsplatz 7 in 41460 Neuss is just 5 minutes away from ISR and I am
happy to be one of ISR´s co-operation partners. There, you can choose from a
wide range of weekend art workshops and creative events. Or simply take a

What is Summer Art Camp?

The idea of a Summer Art Camp was born when some students asked me to
offer “something with more time for art”. So I started the first Summer Art
Camp in 2016 and it´s been on every first week during summer break since
then! We always had a lot of fun – blowing our paintings with hairdryers,
climbing trees to get the best photo with our art work or walking our painted
dogs on the school lawn.

Are you ready for a week of creativity from June 21 – 25 with lots of arts and
crafts to do? Every day will be different – we will have the opportunity to work
in depth on different projects and learn new techniques: paint on canvas, do
collages and mosaics, work with wood and plaster, produce clay models and
much more! On our last day on Friday we will have our own art exhibition with
a smoothies bar in the afternoon and lots of guests – if allowed by health
requirements which I really do hope! So let´s keep our fingers crossed!

This year´s topic is “Crazy About Paint” and I am looking forward to 12 art-
loving students to join me!

                            Who can participate?

Summer Art Camp is open to all students from grade 3 (= grade 3 new school
year) onwards. Participation is on a first come first served basis with application
directly at

                          bettina@kunst-am-platz.de.

The concept below is laid out for 12 participants. This way I can guarantee both
a fun and a focused week of productive art work.

                         What are the camp times?

The Camp will be from 09.00 – 15.00 hrs at ISR premises / Art Studio, 1st floor
and on ISR grounds, weather permitting.

What about food?

Please bring your own snack for a late breakfast and something to drink for the
day. Of course, there is always water from the tap (just in case!), so it is a good
idea to bring a bottle. I hope to arrange for a hot lunch at the restaurant of
Tennis Club Stadtwald just across the street. Costs for lunch are NOT included
in the price of the camp. In the past it was an additional 7€ per Person per day
for Mon. – Thur. On Friday we will have a picnic. More details will follow.

             Planned schedule for Summer Art Camp 2021
Monday
We will start the week with trying out different painting techniques on canvas
using acrylic paint. You are welcome to try out some new ideas and experiment
with colours and try out spatula and scraping device! Special treat: we will use
all sorts of different canvasses. Tickle your creativity!
Our daily photo session will always be outside – let´s try to find some unusual
spots to present your art work! I am sure we will have lots of fun!

Tuesday
Today we go BIG!
After our warm up with acrylics yesterday we will try our new skills on some
really BIG canvasses today! If weather permits we will also go outside and try
out some colour shooting!
For our daily photo session we might even take a little walk to find just the right
spot!

Wednesday
This is going to be a wild day with animals! You will tame them and paint them
the way you like. They don´t bite because they are made of paper maché so

don´t be afraid! In the afternoon they will need a nice walk outside – and we
can take them on our photo session!

Thursday
Surprise Day! It´s our traditional “Itsy Bitsy Day”! Let me surprise you with
some things that you might never have used for art work and discover the
collage technique! You will be amazed!

Friday
Almost finished! Today we will have to work hard for our exhibition!
As real summer artists you want to show your work to everyone before you all
take it home! So we will work on our Summer Art Exhibition 2021, producing
invitations, organizing the setting and celebrating with some healthy self-made
smoothies from our smoothies bar! Bring your friends and family! Exhibition
starts at 14.00 hrs and ends at 15.00!
 Instead of lunch at the Tennis Club we will have a picnic on the lawn outside
late in the morning. It´s most fun when everybody brings something!
 all materials will be provided (we will produce fresh fruit smoothies of
biological seasonal fruit like strawberries, etc. Please, let me know about any
food allergies on the info sheet in the appendix).
 NOTICE: photos will only be taken after parents´ written consent!

TIME
The camp times are from 9.00 – 15.00 hrs daily. The Camp will take place at ISR premises.

FOOD/LUNCH
Students will need to bring their breakfast/snack items and drinks/water for the day. Lunch
is planned to be at the local Tennis Club Stadtwald. We will have a freshly cooked lunch and
a salad bar every day. They will serve both a vegetarian and a meat dish to choose from. It is
just a little walk across the street. We will be all eating together. Costs for lunch NOT
included in the camp fee. More payment details for lunch will follow.
