U SPORTS VANIER CUP 2021 Université Laval – December 4, 2021 Bulletin # 3 5. COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY U SPORTS Vaccination Requirement for Championships Effective November 8, 2021, all participants (as defined above in Section 2) will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a Member Institution approved exemption granted because of a medical condition or other grounds protected by applicable provincial human rights legislation, prior to arrival at any U SPORTS national championship event. All participants must either: • Be fully vaccinated (14 days after their second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or four (4) weeks after their only dose of a one-dose, Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine series) OR • Provide a Member Institution approved exemption requiring an accommodation (i.e., a reason which falls within a protected ground of discrimination under applicable human rights legislation) prior to arrival at any U SPORTS National Championship event (inclusive of any ancillary events). U SPORTS reserves the right to require any participant to provide proof of vaccination or a valid exemption upon entry to the event. Proof can be in the form of a valid provincial vaccine passport, a copy of the proof of vaccination given at the time of receiving vaccination, or a letter from a medical practitioner, confirming that the participant has been vaccinated. Participants representing the institution who have an approved accommodation and are not fully vaccinated must receive a negative COVID-19 PCR test result within 48 hours of arrival to the Host Institution for the Championship. Pre-Arrival COVID-19 Testing Fully Vaccinated Participants: While it is not a requirement, U SPORTS strongly recommends that participants produce a negative result from a Health Canada approved COVID-19 rapid antigen test before travelling to any U SPORTS National Championship. Unvaccinated or Partially Vaccinated Participants: Any participant who is not fully vaccinated must produce a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test administered within 48 hours of arrival at the Rugby Championship. Individuals feeling unwell/exhibiting symptoms, who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, must not travel to the Championship and should contact their local
U SPORTS VANIER CUP 2021 Université Laval – December 4, 2021 Bulletin # 3 health authority for further direction. In Championship COVID-19 Testing All participants must produce a negative result on a COVID-19 rapid test to be taken upon arrival at the Championship (Day 0) and on designated testing days outlined in the U SPORTS COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols document. The rapid test kits (Abbott Panbio COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test Device – Nasal Swab) will be provided by U SPORTS via the Host Committee on arrival to the championship. It is the responsibility of each participating team to administer and read the results of their own team’s rapid tests. An instructional manual is included with each box of testing kits, and a video on how to administer and read the tests can be found here: https://youtu.be/mZYr4Rmj3OE. Testing must be done before accessing the Host’s campus, championship facilities, services or participating in any championship activities (inclusive of and not limited to practice sessions, meetings, awards celebrations, ancillary events and games). Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 must immediately be masked and isolated and the Host’s COVID Management Team notified. Other COVID-19 Protocols and Requirements In addition to testing and vaccination requirements, other health and safety protocols are in place at the Championship for the protection of all participants and the community. These protocols include, but are not limited to, masking, physical distancing, and capacity limitations. Further details on health and safety protocols are included in the U SPORTS COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols for National Championships document. It is the responsibility of each participating team to have reviewed and to ensure they understand the protocols outlined in the document. In addition to the U SPORTS protocols, Host Institutions have their own COVID-19 Protocols that must be followed by all teams, participants and representatives attending the Championship. It is the responsibility of the participating teams to ensure they are aware of and understand these protocols. Please note that the COVID-19 pandemic is an ever-changing landscape and as such the health and safety protocols and requirements for U SPORTS National Championships are subject to change, as new information becomes available.
