330-744-4563 | www.ursuline.com URSULINE HIGH SCHOOL NEWSLETTER — APRIL 2021 2021 Quiz Bowl Champions The Ursuline High School Quiz Bowl Team had a historic season. Ursuline High School has been in the Mahoning Valley Quiz Bowl League for four years. The team began in Division 4 and have won the division each year. As the result of past successes, the team was moved to Division 1 for the 2020-2021 season and continued to reign supreme. This year the team won the Division 1 Championship after boasting another undefeated season. The Ursuline Quiz Bowl Team also won the Mahoning Valley Quiz Bowl Tournament by defeating 31 other schools in a bracket style tournament. The team is pictured with their championship trophies. The team is coached by Mrs. Cindy Lacko and Mrs. Mary Kay Scudier. Team assistants include Miss Nicole Clark and Mrs. Pamela Pasquale. Division 1 Champions Held on Saturday, February 28, the Ursuline Varsity Quiz Bowl Team earned the coveted title of Mahoning Valley Quiz Bowl Tournament Champions. After a grueling day of competition, our team won the trophy and qualified for the upcoming state and national tournaments to be held in May and June. Speech & Debate Team Update Molly Jacob Mason Ursuline High School’s Speech and Debate Team qualified 12 team members to the Ohio State Speech League Speech and Debate Championship. Ursuline is proud to recognize Molly Burke ‘22 and Jacob Graber Sadote ‘23 for their exceptional performances. Molly is the State Runner Up in Original Oratory and Jacob finished in the Top 24 in the state in International Extemp. Mason Reichard ‘24 finished sixth in Humor at the Ohio Novice Speech and Debate State Tournament. Five members of the Speech and Debate Team qualified for the National Speech and Debate Tournament to be held in early June and three members qualified for Catholic Nationals in late May.
