GUIDELINES AND RUBRICS EACH EVENT HAS AN INFORMATION SHEET EVENTS THAT HAVE A SKILL COMPONENT ARE ADDRESSED IN THE “SKILL EVENTS” SHEET
GUIDELINES AND RUBRICS EVENTS THAT ARE COMPRISED OF A TEST ARE ADDRESSED IN A SHEET ENTITLED “TEST ONLY EVENTS”

TESTING AND TALLO TESTING Tests will be taken online within a 12-hour period (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) on their designated day via a smartphone, tablet, or computer Tests will be open book/open note
TESTING AND TALLO Testing All competitors should review the “Security and Ethical Statement”, especially as it relates to online testing Testing is not collaborative. Each competitor should take the test on his/her own
TESTING AND TALLO Testing For all team testing events, all team members must take the test within one hour of each other Coordinate with other team members to take the test within 60 minutes of each other
TESTING AND TALLO Testing Tests are timestamped electronically, and Texas HOSA will monitor to ensure team members begin the test within 60 minutes of each other

TESTING AND TALLO Tallo Many of the events will require uploads to Tallo The Virtual Event Information Sheets will tell competitors what must be uploaded
TESTING AND TALLO Tallo All materials must be uploaded to Tallo by the published deadline to be judged In team events, only ONE team member is required to upload to Tallo

LIVE EVENTS Five events will be live using the Zoom platform
LIVE EVENTS • Biomedical Debate • HOSA Bowl • Interviewing Skills • Job Seeking Skills • Medical Spelling
LIVE EVENTS Biomedical Debate Round Two teams that are finalists will be emailed appointment date/times and Zoom links
LIVE EVENTS Biomedical Debate All team members will meet the judges within Zoom, but no other teams will be present in the same meeting
LIVE EVENTS Biomedical Debate The team will be told if they have drawn affirmative or negative and have 30 seconds to prepare their thoughts
LIVE EVENTS Biomedical Debate The team will not be debating another team but will be responding to key points stated by the judges See the Virtual Event Information Sheet for a more detailed explanation
LIVE EVENTS HOSA Bowl Round Two teams that are finalists will be emailed appointment date/times and Zoom links
LIVE EVENTS HOSA Bowl All team members will meet the judges within Zoom but no other teams will be present in the same meeting
LIVE EVENTS HOSA Bowl Question 1 will be answered by team member 1, question 2 will be answered by team member 2 etc. Only that team member can respond
LIVE EVENTS HOSA Bowl The same 36 questions will be asked of each team in the round and the team that answers the most questions correctly will advance. • See the Virtual Event Information Sheet for a more detailed explanation
LIVE EVENTS Interviewing Skills/Job Seeking Skills In Round One, competitors will submit a Cover Letter and Resume to be judged. Those with the 10 highest scores will advance to round two.
LIVE EVENTS Interviewing Skills/Job Seeking Skills Round Two finalists will be emailed appointment date/times and Zoom links
LIVE EVENTS Interviewing Skills/Job Seeking Skills Each round two finalist will meet with the judges for a live interview within the Zoom platform
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling Round Two finalists will be emailed appointment date/times and Zoom links
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling Competitors will meet with the judges one-at-a-time within the Zoom platform
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling All competitors will be asked to spell the same list of 15 words in the same order The words become progressively harder
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling A competitor will continue to spell until he/she either misspells a word or spells the entire list correctly
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling The competitor who spells the most words will be declared the winner and the other placements will depend on the number of correctly spelled words
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling Ties will be broken by test scores If test scores are the same, the competitors will be described as co- winners
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling The same rules apply as described in the guidelines regarding definitions, pronunciations, and time allowed to spell each word
LIVE EVENTS Medical Spelling Taber’s Audio Glossary will be used to pronounce the words to the competitors
AREA/STATE OFFICER INFORMATION Officer Candidate Online Testing will take place from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 8, 2021 Officer Candidate Finalists will be posted on January 11, 2021
AREA/STATE OFFICER INFORMATION The Officer Candidate application must be uploaded to Tallo by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021
AREA/STATE OFFICER INFORMATION Officer Candidate Finalists will receive a Zoom invitation for their Nominating Committee interview appointment on Tuesday, January 19, 2021
