WELCOME MESSAGE Congratulations to athletes, supporters and organisers on the 10th anniversary of IRONMAN Cairns. IRONMAN has become ingrained in our community. The anticipation in early June builds every year and it is fantastic to welcome the event back for its 10th year. Events are returning to our region, and IRONMAN Cairns is one of the biggest on the calendar. Even in a time when there is still some uncertainty, IRONMAN Cairns has attracted incredible numbers of athletes from across Australia, as well as our international pro-athletes. This year is no different and we look forward to the being able to welcome back our international competitors in future events. It is such an exciting time to be in Cairns. If you are a returning visitor to the region you may have noticed a few changes. We have opened the historic Courthouse Gallery and the new Esplanade Dining Precinct is all but complete. I look forward to seeing the restaurants overflowing with friends and family of athletes on race day and I am sure you’ll embrace the atmosphere as you close in on the finish line. On behalf of the people of Cairns I wish all competitors a successful event. I congratulate you on your commitment and support of this event whether you are here for the first time or a ten-time Cairns IRONMAN veteran. Cairns is proud to host IRONMAN Cairns, in its tenth year, and we wish all competitors the very best. Cr Bob Manning Mayor, Cairns Regional Council 13
