Orchestras and Ensembles The Community Music School orchestras and ensembles are structured Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra— to enhance school music programs. During each session, chamber —CMS student ensembles meet weekly to rehearse and are coached by professional musicians. Electives Electives provide students the opportunity to pursue important topics that are central to becoming a well-rounded musician. Typical offerings include performance class, theory, multi-track recording, and mentorship. Competitions Prep is a great way to learn the skills needed for auditions and competitions. A scholarship competition is held annually for individual musicians. Advanced chamber groups often compete in national competitions such as MYA Discover, St. Paul, and Fischoff. Monthly Group Meetings Each month, the entire Prep program meets for a group class. These classes provide opportunities for special events such as masterclasses, lectures, and discussions with guest artists.
