The Dalla Cia & Majeka House Experience Stumbling upon an unexpected discovery is one of the true joys of travelling, and tucked away in the quiet Stellenbosch suburb of Paradyskloof lies one of the most charming destinations in the South African winelands, Majeka House. The lucky bidder of this lot gets to experience two nights for two couples (four people) including breakfast. Enjoy a five-course dinner paired with Dalla Cia wines and some special Grappas presented by George Dalla Cia at The Majeka Kitchen. Dalla Cia, a unique combination of age-old Italian tradition and passion for innovation. In George’s words … it all began in the 1920s in Friuli, Northern Italy, with my grandfather Vittorio Dalla Cia. At the time a wine merchant, he enrolled his youngest son Giorgio, my father, to Italy’s prestigious Scuola Enologica di Conegliano for viticulture and œnology. My father moved our family to South Africa in 1974, where he was appointed cellamaster at Meerlust Estate in 1978. His name will always be associated with the iconic Meerlust Rubicon, one of the first Bordeaux style blends in South Africa, which earned him many accolades, including South Africa’s Champion Winemaker in 1980 and producer of the best red blend in the world with his 2001 vintage. In the same year we launched our maiden vintage of Dalla Cia Sauvignon Blanc. Its immediate success followed by a Chardonnay inspired me to establish Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit Company, persuade my father to retire from Meerlust and join forces in a vibrant precinct of Stellenbosch, Bosman’s Crossing. We produce six classically styled wines, elegant and approachable. Our advantage is that we source from the best grape growers in the Stellenbosch area, and ensure consistent high quality wines, built out of respect for the grape and terroir. 7
The Deetlefs Ultimate Luxury Big 5 Experience Two lucky couples will enjoy luxury, award-winning wine and the ultimate Big 5 experience. Ultimate Big 5 experience at Aquila Private Game Reserve including two nights’ accommodation, breakfast, dinner and game drives. Aquila is not only a luxury game reserve and lodge. Its primary purpose is to offer an educational experience to all who visit in the hope that knowledge will enrich our understanding of the importance of living in harmony with Mother Nature. Bidvest Car Rental, Cape Town, will offer the two couples luxury transport for the duration of the weekend with a private driver. 9
Unique Wines in Gastronomic Franschhoek with De Kleine Wjin Koöp De Kleine Wijn Koöp is a project by winemaker Wynand Grobler and his wife, Anya. The Groblers regard the ‘cooperative’ as a two-person family business and run it from a small cellar in the heart of Paarl. Wynand doesn’t care much for corporate structures or large cellar teams, his main goal is to be personally involved in the winemaking process. He produces only small quantities of wine from vineyards in Stellenbosch, Swartland, Walker Bay, Franschhoek, Piekenierskloof and Agter-Paarl. As mysterious as the Black Cat. As nomadic as David Kramer’s combi. As heroic as Wolraad Woltemade’s horse. With tiny volumes, De Kleine Wijn Koöp specialises in high-quality wines. “De Kleine Wijn Koöp is a place for us to be creative and play outside of the conventions of the store shelf. So get ready for one-off unique wines,” says winemaker, Wynand Grobler. This weekend will take place at the luxurious Mont d’Or Franschhoek where Cricket legend and Protea captain Faf du Plessis will join Wynand at the dinners to speak about his love for wine and how he got involved and became a partner in the business. Situated in the heart of historic Franschhoek, Mont d’Or is an easy stroll away from the town’s variety of entertainment: think restaurants, wine tasting, chocolateries, museums and monuments. Expect five-star accommodation with a variety of meals prepared by celebrated chef, Nic van Wyk. 11

Just a showstopper of a Chardonnay that gives a lot of Burgundy a run for its money (and I’ve tasted a lot of white Burgundy). If you want to know how good South African whites can be, then look no further than Paul Cluver.” This experience includes two nights’ stay at the enchanting Cherry Glamping, located conveniently close to Paul Cluver. Experience a Once-in-a-Lifetime Ultimate Telos Wine Weekend with Tokara TOKARA is situated on the Helshoogte Pass and has some of the most amazing views over the Stellenbosch Valley and False Bay. TOKARA is the embodiment of owner GT Ferreira’s philosophy that good wine, good food and good art go together to make a good lifestyle. This experience brings all of those ideals together for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend, with the premium, luxury, TELOS at the centre. Consistently recognised as one of SA’s top wineries, the estate offers visitors a unique combination of award-winning wines, brandy and olive oils, a gallery of fine art, a restaurant featuring one of SA leading chefs as well as a delicatessen and sculptures. The pinnacle of what the estate can achieve is showcased by the TELOS. Named after the Greek term describing the end of a goal-directed process, the four best barrels were selected from a 17-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon block planted on a 35% slope at 400m above sea level. From Wine Cellar: “First launched in London and then Johannesburg, Tokara’s owner GT Ferreira presented the Telos against six of Robert Parker’s 100-pointers, including the likes of Latour and Cheval Blanc. Although it was of a different age and style, the Telos matched the precision, luxury and class of Bordeaux’s finest, showing that South African Cabernet Sauvignon is world-class. Rounded off with 5% Malbec and 3% Merlot, the wine is extremely precise, showing red rather than black fruit and unbelievable poise. The alcohol is an elegant 14% and offers a pure-fruited style with a hint of dried fynbos and luxurious, powdery tannins.” The weekend will also include dining experiences at TOKARA Restaurant, headed by rising culinary star, Chef Carolize Coetzee. Renowned art curator Ilse Schermers of IS Art will take guests on an art tour of the estate, among many other highlights. 25
