Altius Farms @ S*Park Fresh, local leafy greens are hard to find in Colorado. Colorado’s demand for locally grown produce far exceeds supply. More than 97% of greens are shipped into our state. This transportation creates an unnecessary carbon footprint, and results in ~30% produce loss. Consumers increasingly want to know where their food comes from, and to purchase the freshest produce possible. In October 2018, Altius Farm launched our greenhouse growing high quality, local, pesticide-free, nutritious leafy greens year-round. Urban AG showcase at S*Park. The 7,300 sq. foot flagship rooftop greenhouse houses 340 Tower Gardens™. More than 31,000 plants can grow concurrently, yielding over 50,000 pounds of fresh produce each year. This offers a 10x production advantage vs. land farming per harvest. We use 10% of the water than soil farming, and compared to traditionally grown greens, ours taste fresher, have higher nutritional value, and are sustainably grown. The 8,000 sq ft soil farm “below” will grow a variety of crops including peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, squash, edible flowers and herbs during the summer and fall months. The farm courtyard and event space is designed for farm-to-table dinners, chef pop-ups, community gatherings, and educational and hands-on school education. Farmers, Chefs and Community. Working closely with our chefs, we build crop plans designed to provide what they want when they want it. Our produce is to be delivered live or freshly cut and without seasonal fluctuations. Customers receive the freshest, most nutritious produce with a much longer shelf life than produce shipped in from out-of-state. Our Commitment to Veterans. Altius Farms is a woman-, veteran-owned business with a core commitment to engage and employ military veterans. Altius will play a role in the training of local farmers in sustainable, local food production, focusing on youth and families. We also look to build strong programs by partnering with Denver universities and not-for-profit groups that assist underserved members of our community. www.altiusfarms.com
