Adessky Community Centre (30 Lyncroft Road) during regular office hours (see page 4). Most programs have limited registration space and all registration is on a first-come, first-served basis with residents receiving priority. Registration fees must be paid in full at the time of registration, unless otherwise authorized. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, debit (Interac) or cheques payable to the Town of Hampstead. • By fax (514-369-8269): send your registration form with your credit card number and expiration date. REGISTRATION AND GENERAL INFORMATION GENERAL POLICIES 1. Fees, locations and dates are subject to change. 2. Programs may be cancelled if an insufficient number of participants register. 3. We reserve the right to close registration. 4. Registration fees and program registrations are not transferable. 5. Prices include GST/QST with a few exceptions. All programs for participants over the age of 14 will be taxed. 6. Please note that a $35 fee will be levied on all NSF cheques; outstanding balances must be paid in full before continuing in the program or registering for any future programs. 7. Participants are reminded that they are fully responsible for any facilities and equipment supplied to them by the Town of Hampstead. 8. Providing false information on a registration form will result in cancellation of your registration with the forfeiture of your fees. 9. Each program/activity also has its own set of policies that will be made available to all participants at the start of each session. 10. If errors are found within the book, corrections and adjustments can and will be made without penalty to the Town. 11. Promotions cannot be used in combination with others. PHOTOS & VIDEOS TAKEN DURING ACTIVITIES The CSR Department often takes photos and videos of participants in our programs, activities and special events for future promotional purposes. We reserve the right to use any photographs taken during these activities without any compensation or permission. If you wish not to have photos taken of you and your family, you must inform us in writing prior to the activity. RESIDENCY & FEES • HAMPSTEAD RESIDENTS Hampsteaders currently living in the Town benefit from resident fees. Proof of residence is required. • CÔTE-SAINT-LUC/MONTREAL WEST RESIDENTS As a special courtesy, residents of these neighbouring municipalities can take advantage of resident rates for day camp, sports (except ice hockey, pool and tennis) and socio-cultural programs. Proof of residence is required. PROOF OF RESIDENCE To benefit from resident fees, two (2) proofs of residence are required, including one (1) with a photograph. Accepted proofs include: driver’s licence, Medicare card, school report card, tax bill, original birth certificate and passport. 06 Guide 2020-2021
REGISTRATION AND GENERAL INFORMATION REFUND POLICIES • GENERAL REFUND POLICY (Except Day Camp and Specialty Camps) Refunds are considered upon written request only. If granted, the refund will be prorated and are subject to an administrative charge of 20% of the total cost of the program/season. No refunds will be given after a third of the program/season has been completed, regardless of when payment was made. • REFUNDS DUE TO MEDICAL REASONS Any refund request for medical reasons requires a valid doctor’s note. If granted, the refund will be prorated, and a 10% administration charge will be applied. Medical refunds must be requested before the completion of the program. Please note that all doctor’s notes MUST be submitted within one month of the date of your refund request or your refund will be processed according to the general refund policy. • DAY CAMP AND SPECIALTY CAMPS REFUND POLICY Refunds will only be considered upon receiving a written request. A 20% administrative fee will be charged on all refunds requested. Please note once the week has begun it is considered to have been completed, and no refund will be granted. In a situation where one must withdraw due to a medical reason, a pro-rated refund minus 10% administrative fee will apply when presented with a valid medical note. Please note: Refund requests must be received by noon on Friday, otherwise the following week will be considered as having been used. No phone messages accepted. • CANCELLATIONS If a program is cancelled, the full registration fee will be reimbursed automatically. Please note there is a 4–6 week delay in processing reimbursements. • DAILY GUEST PASSES AND DAY CAMP/SPECIALTY CAMP ABSENCES There are no refunds of any type or rain checks for pool and tennis daily guest passes. There are no refunds issued for missed days at day camp. SEASON PASS CARDS BUY EARLY Do not be disappointed. Pool and tennis season pass holders must present a valid card prior to entering Hampstead facilities. Anyone without a card will be denied access. No exceptions! Please note that season passes can only be purchased at the CSR office during regular business hours. Check the business hours on page 4 to avoid disappointment. REGISTRATION AND GENERAL INFORMATION FACILITIES AND INSTALLATIONS WALKING PATH NETWORK The pedestrian path network provides Hampsteaders with excellent opportunities to enjoy the beautiful greenery of Hampstead by foot, connecting popular green spaces like Councillors, Applewood and Hampstead Parks. While it makes extensive use of sidewalks across the town, it also includes a number of connecting walkways between streets, including the John P. Humphrey path between Thurlow and Granville Roads, and Centennial Lane between Lyncroft and Finchley Roads, as well as walking paths in various parks. STREET HOCKEY (OUTDOOR) Want to keep up your ice hockey skills leading up to this year’s hockey season? Street hockey is for you! This variation on Canada’s favourite winter pastime is played on pavement with players wearing running shoes and using a ball instead of a puck. Equipment required (not supplied): Helmet with full face mask, gauntlets, shin pads, jock (jill), hockey stick, sweatpants and running shoes. In case of inclement weather, all levels may be moved to the Confederation Annexe in Côte-Saint-Luc. Please call the Rainout Line for details 1 hour before the program starts. They will learn how to realistically defend themselves and practice clear verbal boundary setting. Our session will empower you and help you develop the necessary mindset to deal with the fear, confusion and panic that occurs during a violent confrontation. He is the author of 3 personal safety manuals and has been empowering women, rape survivors and bullied children for over 30 years. YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS T-BALL Introduction to the game of baseball. Batters hit from an adjustable tee at home plate, learn to throw, run bases, hit and catch a ball! IMPORTANT NOTES Provincial Safety Regulations stipulates that a maximum of 350 swimmers are permitted within the Hampstead Pool facility at any one time. This number MUST be respected at all times, and pool access will be closed if this number is reached. Babysitters, nannies, visiting family members and family guests are not included in the family membership and must register separately or pay at each visit. Season pass fees will remain the same regardless of when the fees are paid. Fees are NOT pro-rated. There will be a $10 charge to replace lost season pass cards. Season passes are not transferable. POOL ACTIVITIES OUR FACILITIES A valid season pass or daily guest pass must be presented to the attendant to enter the facility. Once inside, the facility bracelet must be worn at all times. Lost bracelets must be replaced at full charge, regardless of whether or not you are a season pass holder. HAMPSTEAD POOL PRE-SEASON: May 30 – June 19 REGULAR SEASON: June 20 – August 21 POST-SEASON: August 22 – September 7 All schedules are subject to change; changes will be posted on the pool bulletin board. If a holiday falls on a weekday, the weekend pool schedule applies (June 24 and July 1). HAMPSTEAD POOL SWIM SCHEDULE See website for a complete pre/regular/post schedule. This time is reserved for families and particularly young children. The pool is divided into 2 sections: shallow and deep. Children will be allowed to use their floatation devices and other toys at this time. Family Swim Depending on the demand, one lane may be reserved for lap swim. Only children accompanied by an adult will be allowed in the pool. This is a time for everyone to come and enjoy the pool. For safety reasons, floatation devices will not Public Swim be permitted during this time. Two lanes may be reserved for lap swim. Official life jackets are allowed (available at the pool – supplies are limited). During Lap Swim, there will be 2 or 3 lanes reserved for adults to swim laps. Half of the pool will be Lap Swim available for lap swim and the other for free swim. Night Swim will be open to everyone and two lanes will be reserved for lap swim. During the regular Night Swim season only (June 20 August 21). During this period the entire aquatic facility will be reserved for campers enrolled in Hampstead Day Camp Swim Day Camp. POOL ACTIVITIES HAMPSTEAD POOL, SPLASH PARK, AND COUNCILLORS PARK SPLASH PAD RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Children 6 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be within arm’s length. Non-swimmers (regardless of age) must be accompanied into the water by an adult. Adults must be in swimming attire and in the water with the child. 2. All persons are required by Quebec law to take a shower each time they enter the pool. 3. Diving is permitted in the deep end only. 4. Chairs and strollers must be kept off the main deck. 5. All edibles must be consumed outside the pool area or in designated pool areas. 6. Glass containers are forbidden on the pool premises. 7. Running is prohibited. The floors and deck are slippery when wet. 8. Pushing or rough play is not allowed. 9. Only bathers wearing commercially approved swimwear will be granted access to the pool; regular street clothes and athletic wear is not considered appropriate swimming attire. 10. Children that are not toilet trained MUST wear appropriate “swim diapers”. Regular diapers are not permitted. 11. Maximum capacity is 350 people in the pool facility, as required by provincial code. 12. Smoking is FORBIDDEN. 13. Alcoholic beverages, bicycles, skateboards and roller blades are not permitted in the pool area. 14. Any person having an open blister or cut is not permitted to use the pool, splash park or splash pad. 15. Changing room lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Overnight storage is not permitted under any circumstances (locks will be removed nightly). Hampstead will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please leave valuables at home. 16. For the safety of all swimmers, only one person at a time is permitted on the slide. 17. Children may use government-approved life jackets at any time. Pool toys are restricted to certain periods; please see pool schedule. 18. No climbing or hanging on the splash park toys and hoops. Please do not stand on the concrete walls surrounding and inside the splash park. 19. Please do not throw dirt, grass, or similar substances into the pool or splash park. It can cause costly pool repairs. 20. Access to the splash park is limited to children 4 years old and under and must be supervised by an adult within arm’s length at all times. 21. If someone is found to be providing inaccurate information either on their registration form or while acquiring daily admission to our facilities, it will lead to disciplinary measures including, and not limited to, eviction from the facility and/or the possible revocation of the season pass without reimbursement. 22. Facility bracelets must be worn at all times. If lost or removed, the bracelet must be replaced at the cost of a daily guest pass. This requirement applies to all facility users without exception, including season pass holders. 23. The deck chairs are FOR ADULT USE while present at the pool. Reserving or holding a chair for a person not present is not permitted. 24. Deck chairs are limited. The use of personal chairs is permitted provided there is space. Town reserves the right to limit the number of chairs/loungers on deck. The above rules and regulations are subject to change without notification. The swimming pool management may evict and/or suspend from the pool premises any person violating any of the aforementioned rules or whose conduct is jeopardizing the safety and pleasure of others, without possibility of refund. TIPS TO ASSIST WITH POOL CLEANLINESS & SAFETY 1. Persons with long hair (longer than 3”) are encouraged to wear a bathing cap or use an elastic band. This helps maintain a clean environment as well as avoid costly repairs. 2. All persons are encouraged to use sunscreen. Sunscreen should be applied 15–30 minutes before exposure to the sun. Please do not apply sunscreen and enter the pool immediately, as it will wash off, affect water quality and lose its sun-protection effectiveness. 3. For additional safety, a ratio of 1:1 adult swimmers to non-swimmers is required, regardless of age. 4. All non-swimmers are encouraged to take swimming lessons. 5. Each pool patron shall clean up his or her own debris from the designated eating area and place all trash and waste paper in the garbage cans provided. Guide 2020-2021 23
