Let's finally bid farewell to our beloved bass and thus symbolically begin Lent, an important period for Christians. This is the 64th year, categorized as an FIS men's and women's race in the slalom and giant slalom. Competitors registered in the Slovak Ski Association as well as unregistered cross-country skiers can take part. The sporting event is preceded by a cultural program – the opening ceremony of the Slovak Cross-Country Skiing Championship. There are five categories, in one round, with the absolute winner being recognized in the end. The race will be accompanied by the perfect Apres ski fun. 20 March - 26 March 2019 FEBIOFEST 2019 Febiofest International Film Club Festival - 26th edition (Medzinárodný festival filmových klubov Febiofest - 26. ročník). The main feature of the program will be the now traditional short film competition part entitled In the Center of Europe. This year will also feature 20 actors', documentary, animated and experimental films of up to 30 minutes from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Austria, which were created in 2018. There are new ropes-course attractions for children, climbing races and exhibition stands with outdoor equipment. The aim of the event is to return the ancient Modra cellars to their past glory and make a piece of cultural and technological heritage available to visitors. The first year of this event took place in modest proportions in 2004 and since then it has enjoyed greater interest not only by visitors but also by winemakers. Around 35 wine cellars, 40 winemakers and approximately 1,500 visitors participate in the event each year which brings the city to life. 27 April 2019 Opening of the summer tourist season in the Pieniny Mountains (Otvorenie letnej turistickej sezóny v Pieninách) Unlocking and the consecrating of the Dunajec River in Červený Kláštor. This is followed by rafting along the Dunajec river to Lesnica, where the fun continues and where you will be welcomed by the true Gorals. The organizers of the event are the railway company of Slovakia (ZSSK) and the Detská železnica Košice civic association. It is a traditional family event aimed at introducing unique historic locomotives as well as modern trains and locomotives. Visitors will literally be able to touch and feel them. For children, entertaining attractions and creative workshops, snacks, music, screenings and more are prepared from morning until evening. In addition to music concerts in the beautiful fresco hall, the event includes a rose exhibition, where you can also find a new variety - the rose of M. H. Chotek. You can witness the beauty of the extensive English park during the historic carriage walk. You can taste quality wines, sweet mead, or delicious honey cakes. 7 June – 9 June 2019 Ceramic markets (Keramické trhy) The 16th edition of the ceramic’s producers' mastery presentation of various styles from Slovakia and abroad along with its sale. Since 2004, the event has taken place on the second weekend of June, which is associated with the anniversary of the royal privileges of Pezinok (1647). The event also includes an exhibition of ceramics in the Little Carpathian Museum, a competition for pottery spinning on potter's wheels and craft workshops. 14 June - 16 June 2019 Zamagurie Folklore Festivities (Zamagurské folklórne slávnosti) A tour of folk singing, dance and traditional culture, not just from Zamagurie. The folklore- full program can be enjoyed on the grounds of Červený Kláštor Spa- Smerdžonka surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Pieniny Mountains. Many skilled craftsmen from the region and a wide surroundings will showcase their art and products at the traditional craft markets as well. 16 June 2019 Opening of the summer tourist season at Zemplínska šírava (Otvorenie letnej turistickej sezóny na Zemplínskej šírave) On account of its warm climate with mostly lowland surface Zemplínska šírava is an ideal place to relax especially in the summer months. It provides a variety of traditional summer vacation options coupled with swimming and water sports. In 2019, the community of Kaluža is the main organizer of events and has scheduled a number of events in cooperation with the Zemplín Region Tourism Board, including, in addition to the ceremonial opening of the summer tourist season, the chance to board a boat cruising Zemplínska Šírava and a wide range of cultural performances and other accompanying activities. The coronations of 18 kings and queens who were crowned in Bratislava is approached in an experiential way. They are held annually on the last June weekend to commemorate the coronation of Maria Theresa, who was crowned here on 25 June 1741.
