Demonstration of the Rimini maritime tradition
The initiative is an opportunity to discover the sea traditions of Rimini through a re-enactment of the fishing mode
'La Tratta'.
'La Tratta' is a "poor" fishing technique from ancient time that was in use on the coast until the 1950s. This kind of
fishing will be proposed in a practical demonstration with the aim to keep alive the local tradition and discover the
ancient fishing in the Adriatic sea, which has always been a main resource the seafarer population in Rimini.
After the fishing demonstration, there will be tastings of grilled fish, according to the ancient Rimini tradition,
accompanied by 'piada' and wine

Historic Seafaring Festival in Romagna

Late summer festival - Vele al terzo, the historic boats of Romagna
The traditional and ancient boats "Vela al Terzo", which for centuries have sailed the Adriatic sea, arrive in the
tourist port of Rimini on Saturday 7th September. The characteristic of these boats is a rig of two flagpoles and a
trapezoid shaped sail. In the ancient time these sails, always colored and decorated with symbols and figures,
marked the harbor and the family of which the boat belonged. A unique show where traditional customs and
traditions of the ancient local maritime tradition are revived.
It is a cultural and enogastronomic event and an occasion for people of all ages to get to know the crews always
ready for any explanation.
During the festival there will be a refreshment point where it is possible to taste blue fish, the traditional "Rustida",
accompanied by piadina freshly prepared by the volunteers of the Association Vele al Terzo Rimini, with zero-
kilometer salad and DOC wines from the hinterland of Rimini.
Music lovers will not miss the traditional music corner at the rhythm of Romagna Mia or on the music by Carlos
Santana.
The event will be held in partnership with "Basta Plastica in Mare", the association with the goal of "Romagna
Plastic Free 2023", informing visitors about protecting the sea, freeing it from plastic. Therefore the
provisioning will be strictly ecological, in compostable materials.

Guided visit from the Arch of Augustus to Fellini's Fulgor Cinema
Every week during the summer Discover Rimini proposes a cultural walk accompanied by an expert guide, with
an endearing narration, to enjoy the beauty of the most important buildings of Rimini, from Roman times until
today, in a 20-centuries-long history.
Walking through the streets and squares of the old town, you will have the chance to admire the Arch of
Augustus, the Malatesta Temple, the Galli Theatre, the Old Fish Market, the Fulgor Cinema, recently reopened,
and the Tiberius Bridge. During the visit the guide will remind you of famous people related to the city: from Julius
Caesar to the emperor Augustus, from Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta to Giuseppe Verdi, up to Federico Fellini.
The visit ends with the entrance to the legendary Cinema Fulgor, in order to admire the hall decorated by
Academy Award winner Dante Ferretti, as a tribute to Fellini, one of the most famous directors in the world, who
was born in Rimini.

During the evening simulations and reproductions of clashes between Roman soldiers (Legio XIII Gemina) and

compared and the structure of the Roman legion will be analyzed.
Accompanied by a speaker, spectators can be involved by trying (in total safety) what it means to carry a shield
and position themselves in a row with the legionaries.

70th Sagra Musicale Malatestiana - Progetto Rivale
The Sagra Musicale Malatestiana dedicates an important project to contemporary music with the first Italian
performance of Rivale, a chamber opera commissioned for the reopening of the Berlin Staatsoper to one of the
most important Italian living composers, Lucia Ronchetti.
Based on a subject elaborated in French by Antoine Danchet in 1701 for Campra's Tancréde, Rivale is a chamber
opera for female voice, cello, brass instuments and percussion, entirely focused on the figure of Clorinda, a
Muslim princess prisoner and in love with her own enemy.
The Italian premiere at the Sala Pamphili (5 August) will involve young people from all over the world as part of
the San Marino International Music Summer Courses project.
In the role of Clorinda, the mezzo-soprano Amira Elmafda.
