Rye Recreation Summer Camps Kiddy Camp, Lower Camp & Upper Camp Tuesday, July 2 - Friday, August 9, 2019 Camp 78 Monday, July 1 - Friday, August 2, 2019 An Unforgettable Summer CAMP REGISTRATION WILL BE ON-LINE!! Camp Resident Registration Opens On-line Kiddy Camp Thursday, February 7, 10 am Lower Camp Thursday, March 21, 10 am Upper Camp Thursday, March 21, 10 am Camp 78 Thursday, March 7, 10 am IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW: Registration closes June 1st. ALL REQUIRED PAPERWORK must be received in the Recreation Office one week after your registration in order for your enrollment to be considered complete. You must register in person if you are requesting financial assistance or require special payment arrangements. Please contact the Recreation Office at 967-2535 well before the registration date for details and to schedule an appointment. Deadline to request: April 30. Non-Resident Registration Begins Thursday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Junior Counselor Positions: For teens entering grades 9 & 10 who are interested in gaining practical experience working with children for community service. Your registration will not be considered complete until all paperwork has been received. You can: ° Come in to the office. If after hours, you can leave it in the “After Hours Drop Box” located opposite the vending machines on the main level. ° Mail to Rye Recreation, 281 Midland Avenue ° Email to registration@ryeny.gov ° Please make sure your child’s name and a contact phone number are prominent on all documents. • Birth Certificate/Passport – If you are coming in to the office, you do not need to make a copy; we will simply check it. If you are leaving it in the Drop Box, or mailing or emailing a copy, we will shred it after we check it. • Proof of Residency – Recent utility or cable bill; contract or lease. Kiddy Camp A Summer Of Fun In The Sun Registration opens: Thursday, February 7 at 10:00 a.m. Register on-line at: www.ryeny.gov/government/recreation-department Click on the orange Online Registration button to register Kiddy Camp is specifically for children ages 3-5 (but not entering kindergarten). It is a 6-week, half-day, classroom based program. Every day the children will participate in free play, story time, songs, outdoor play, art, sports and much more! Special events and entertainment are held weekly to enhance the program. Campers are grouped by age. Camp fee includes a camp t-shirt. b Parents supply a snack & a drink daily Proposed Camp Site: Midland School Proposed Camp Time: 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. Kiddy Camp has a limited enrollment. Children must be 3 years old by April 30, 2019 and be toilet trained to be eligible (no pull-ups). Lower Camp Camp No Left Turn Registration opens: Thursday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. Register on-line at: www.ryeny.gov/government/recreation-department Click on the orange Online Registration button to register Lower Camp offers an active, supervised camp program for children enrolled in grades K-2 as of September 2019. Camp groups are co-ed by grade. Sports, group games, arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, and special theme days are just part of the fun planned for these campers. Camp fee includes a camp t-shirt. We strive to maintain a 1:6 counselor to camper ratio with our younger campers and up to 1:8 with our older campers in this camp. Proposed Camp Site: Rye Recreation & Midland School Proposed Camp Times: 8:30 - 3:00 p.m. Additional Services (optional): Extended Morning Care: 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Extended Afternoon Care: 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. Camp Fees: Full Day Program 6-week resident............................... $830 2-week resident .............................. $570 6-week non-resident...................... $1660 2-week non-resident...................... $1140 (Please note that fees increase as of May 13) Camp trips are optional and not included in the camp fee. LOWER CAMP SPECIALS b BEGINNER SWIM: Children enrolled in this program will be taken to Rye Golf Club three times a week for a 30-40 minute swim period. There is limited enrollment in the Beginner Swim program; limits are due to time restrictions and safety regulations as specific staff to camper ratios are mandated by the Department of Health. Registration is on first-come, first- served basis Only 6-week campers are eligible to participate. Swim days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. Inclement weather and Rye Golf Swim Team meets may affect days. Fee: $130 b MAD SCIENCE: • Grade K: Mad Science of Westchester will come to camp and make a scientist out of your child in no time. Children will be taken out of regularly scheduled activities to participate in this special program. Fee: $40 • Jr. Rocketry (Grades 1 & 2): Have a “blast” as you discover the dynamics of rocket flight. Discuss Isaac Newton and his awesome Laws of Motion. Learn how and why rockets fly as you build your very own model rockets that you will take home at the end of the session. Fee: $40 • Dino Casts (Grade 1 only): Enter the Jurassic age as you create your own velociraptor skeleton replicas. Campers will cast and mount these 24” long models as you learn about these ancient beasts. Fee: $40 • Magical Illusions (Grade 2 only): This program will explore the science of sight and misdirection. Work together with us to create your own special optical devices that change the way you see the world and fool your friends! Fee: $40 Mad Science (Gr. Everyone will work on a professional design board and choose from a high end selection of crystals, sea glass, ceramics and lead-free charms. Melanie Rose, instructor, is the owner of BEADZ (www.gobeadz.com) Program dates: Tuesday, July 9 & 23 between 12:30-2:45 p.m. Fee: $40 b CAMP BAG: $10 - Please order at registration. Campers are grouped by gender and grade. This camp program gives campers the opportunity to participate in a variety of trips and programs including sports, games, arts & crafts, indoor rec, a variety of special events, and themed days. Camp fee includes a camp t-shirt. We strive to maintain a 1:8 counselor to camper ratio. Proposed Camp Site: Rye Middle School Proposed Camp Time: 8:30 - 3:00 p.m. Additional Services (optional): Extended Morning Care: 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Extended Afternoon Care: 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. (at Rye Rec) Camp Fees: Full Day Program 6-week resident............................... $830 2-week resident .............................. $570 6-week non-resident...................... $1660 2-week non-resident...................... $1140 (Please note that fees increase as of May 13) Camp trips are optional and not included in the camp fee. Program dates: July 15, 17 & 18 Fee: $90 School House Chess: Schoolhouse Chess is devoted to helping kids develop learning and thinking skills by teaching them chess. Chess has been proven to help with logic, memory, analysis, reading, and mathematics, and has even been shown to improve IQ. We teach chess with fun characters and stories that are woven into a logical, step-by- step curriculum that begins with the basic rules and extends through advanced strategies and tactics. Participants will be grouped by ability (Beginner or Advanced). Program dates: July 22, 24 & 25 Fee: $90 Robotics- EM4: Build the EM4 Robot Kit and explore its four exciting modes: Cricket—who’s a joy on 6 legs, Beast—the master of bipedal movement, Trailer—the little engine that could move forward thanks to its motorized transmission, and good ole Grandpa-bot—everyone’s favorite bobble-headed gear-driven family member. Each mode is equipped with its own unique form of movement and with a few easy steps, transforming between each mode is a breeze. Program dates: July 29, 31 & August 1 Fee: $90 b JEWELRY & BEADING WORKSHOP for GIRLS & BOYS: In this “professional style”, creative workshop, campers will construct beautiful and high quality, summer inspired beaded jewelry and accessories. Campers will learn techniques used by professionals, while working on a design board and choosing from an amazing and high end selection of beads, lead-free charm charms, crystals, sea glass, ceramics and much more. The workshop on July 9 will feature a necklace project, and July 23 workshop will feature bracelets and anklets. Summer 2019 will feature new styles and tons of new beads. All ages and levels are welcome and accommodated. If you are going into 7th or 8th grade and you’re looking for something exciting to do this summer, Camp 78 is for you! This camp goes on different adventures daily. We have an array of trips and activities planned for this summer. Come build everlasting friends and memories for your 2019 summer vacation. We strive to maintain a 1:8 counselor to camper ratio. You may send an email to registration@ryeny.gov or come in to the main office at the Damiano Center, 281 Midland Avenue. • Requests Received by June 1: If you wish to change weeks, you may do so provided your request is received in writing by June 1 and space is available. If there is no space in the week you wish to transfer to, it will be considered a withdrawal from the original week (subject to the withdrawal fee) and you will be placed on the wait list for the week you desire. • June 2 and After: Effective June 2, no weeks can be changed. If you no longer wish to be enrolled in original week, it is considered a withdrawal and is subject to the published withdrawal policy (no refund).

Camp Withdrawal/Refund Policy • ALL REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED IN WRITING IN THE MAIN OFFICE. You may send an email to registration@ryeny.gov or come in to the main office at the Damiano Center, 281 Midland Avenue. • This policy also applies to special add-on programs (e.g. Mad Science). • Documented medical reasons are an exception to this policy and requests must be in writing.
