WELCOME TO COPA Campus of Performing Arts (COPA) was founded in 2003 & is a contemporary music college with campuses in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban. Our courses are taught by trained facilitators who are music industry specialists as well as professional musicians, giving our students one of the most rounded and intensive practical programmes currently available anywhere in the world. COPA offers full-time courses in: Music Performance (Bass guitar, Drums, Guitar and Vocals), Music Production (instruments: Sound Technology, Game Audio Design, DJ and Sound Engineering), Music Business and Performing Arts. COPA also offers a short course in Lighting and Game Development Fundamentals and recently added as module Game Audio Development. Students are not only trained in their chosen elective, but also in modules such as Music Business and Stage Presence to ensure that they are well prepared for a successful career in the music industry. Each campus boasts fit-for-purpose facilities with a recording studio, a technology centre, a performance venue and practice facilities for use by its students. Campus of Performing Arts (Pty) Ltd is provisionally registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a private higher education institute under the Higher Education Act, 1997 until 31 December 2020. Registration Certificate No. 2011/HE07/004. Full Accreditation by the CATHSSETA also allows COPA to train previously disadvantaged individuals in learnerships, bursaries, and internships (as and when Government SETA Funding permits), with courses found on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). 3
COPA MANAGEMENT We take great pride in our staff at COPA. All lecturers are music professionals in their own right and are actively engaged in various other roles in the industry. This approach allows us to deliver a relevant up-to-date education, essential in an industry which is constantly changing and evolving. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL Each campus has a Student Representative Council (SRC) where the goal is to not only give students a voice, but to encourage them to take ownership of their lives and careers. The SRC organises regular student gigs on and off campus as well as other initiatives to improve the student experience. The SRC annually heads up the COPA Gives Back Project where we get involve in our communities to help make a difference. The SRC is elected by their peers and work closely with the Head of Faculty. 11

WELCOME COPA’s performance school comprises of 5 disciplines: Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keyboard and Vocals. Students will select one discipline which will be their specialisation for the duration of study. Where the timetable allows students will be allowed to study more than one instrument simultaneously at a Further Education and Training level. GAUTENG COPA’s Gauteng Campus is the largest of all campuses. Facilities include: a resource centre, rehearsal rooms, production suites, an Apple Mac equipped technology room, a recording studio and a Live Performance Venue. CAPE TOWN COPA’s Cape Town campus facilities include: rehearsal rooms, a production suite, resource centre and a recording studio also hosting an Apple Mac equipped technology room. DURBAN COPA’s Durban campus is located near the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The facilities include: a resource centre, rehearsal rooms, a production suite, a recording studio and a Live Performance Venue. 14
MUSIC PERFORMANCE: Bridging Course The entry course for Music Performance is a one year bridging course. Entry into this course is subject to passing an audition.
