Featured Guest Speakers Kevin Michael Connolly Kevin Michael Connolly was born without legs in Helena, Montana. An otherwise healthy baby, he grew up like any other kid – getting dirty and playing in the woods. After graduating from Helena High School in 2004, Kevin began attending Montana State University. His first taste of living abroad came in 2006 when he studied abroad in New Zealand for a year. While on the return home, Connolly was skateboarding down a backstreet in Vienna and took his first prototype photo for what would become The Rolling Exhibition. The Rolling Exhibition is an art exhibit of over 33,000 photos that took Connolly to 31 countries as he documented the stares and reactions from others around the world. His photography work has been featured in the Smithsonian Institution, ABC's 20/20, NPR, BBC, Yahoo! News, and National Geographic. He currently maintains galleries in England, Mexico, and Czech Republic. At the age of 23, Connolly began work on his memoir, “Double Take,” which chronicles his early life, as well as his journey working on The Rolling Exhibition. Double Take has been published in three languages; garnered rave reviews US outlets (“People Magazine,” “Outside Magazine” and the “TODAY Show,”); and is being developed into a feature film by Groundswell Productions. Kevin’s explorations have netted him a broken jaw, a couple dozen stitches and two X-Games medals – one silver medal in 2007 and one bronze in 2010. Connolly’s desire for adventure was featured in Travel Channel’s 2014 original series, “Armed & Ready,” where he created jury-rigged prosthetics to solve obstacles posed to many active amputees. Kevin currently lives and works in Helena, Montana. RMASFAA Philanthropic Project CASA of Yellowstone County is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for a safe and permanent home for abused and neglected children in Yellowstone County. This is accomplished through the work of volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates, appointed by a judge to represent a child or group of siblings in foster care and speak up for the children's best interests. Court Appointed Special Advocates - or CASAs - are responsible for visiting the children regularly at the foster home and school, and investigating aspects of the case. With the information they gather, CASAs write monthly reports that are distributed to the judge and legal parties in the case, and they attend all court hearings to be the voice for the children in court. Throughout the length of a case, foster care placements will change, social workers will change, attorneys will change, and schools will change; the child's life is full of changes. In contrast, each CASA makes a commitment to stay with the child throughout the duration of their time in the foster care system. When you donate, you are helping train and support volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. You are also helping build a local movement of individuals who tirelessly work to ensure every child who needs a Court Appointed Special Advocate can have one. If you wish to donate prior to the RMASFAA Conference please go on-line at: https://www.yellowstonecasa.org/
