2019 Emerging Trends in Real Estate Speaker Biographies Andy Warren Director, Real Estate Research PwC Andrew “Andy” currently serves as the Director of Real Estate Research. As the Director of Real Estate Research, Andy is responsible for monitoring all aspects of real estate, including space market fundamentals, capital market trends, regulatory changes and operational developments. For the past three years, Andrew has co-authored the US and Canadian editions of Emerging Trends in Real Estate. Andrew is a frequent speaker on issues affecting the real estate market and has also authored numerous articles for internal clients and national real estate publications. Prior to assuming his current role, Andy served as the Managing Director of Real Estate Research for Principal Global Investors, the fourth largest institutional real estate manager in the U.S. At Principal, Andy held a progressive level of analyst and management positions over his 25 year career representing research as a voting member on a variety of real estate investment funds. Kevin Bryant President Kingsway Development, LLC Kevin Bryant is the Executive Founder and President of Kingsway Development, LLC. “A Driving Force for Economic Development” Kingsway Development is leading community and building development in the Kingsway / Central West End corridor. With over ten years of experience working with Advisory Boards and key investors to plan extensive corporate expansion as well as renovations of business and residential buildings, Kevin is working with and leading the community in the Kingsway Development footprint to advance the redevelopment of Fountain Park and Lewis Place, including over $56 million in total development investment. In 2017, Kevin established the Collective Work Foundation to support the philanthropic needs of the Kingsway Redevelopment plan by partnering with the Fountain Park and Lewis Place neighborhood organizations in an effort to combat problems of urban blight. When he is not working on the Kingsway development, Kevin runs Conversions Global Marketing, an corporate marketing agency he founded in 2000.
Jason Hall Founder & CEO Arch to Park LLC Jason Hall is an entrepreneur who is currently creating a new civic-minded investment firm to accelerate growth in the City of St. Louis. Prior to launching his latest venture, Jason was Vice-President of Entrepreneurship & Innovation with the St. Louis Regional Chamber, a member of Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s cabinet leading economic development, and the founder of the new Missouri Technology Corporation (MTC). Through these roles, Jason has been a committed collaborater and key architect of innovative public-private partnerships, including the Small Business Relief Fund that quickly opened up lines of capital for Ferguson-area small businesses in 2014; securing a permanent home for the downtown St. Louis T-Rex Innovation Community, one of the region’s largest and most diverse co-working spaces; and bringing the Inner City Capital Connections program to St. Louis in 2016. The entrepreneurship policies that Jason put in place in Missouri in at MTC have directly helped Missouri entrepreneurs raise over $500 million in private capital. Jason began his career in the St. Louis office of Bryan Cave LLP, one of the largest global law firms, where he served clients across a range of technology sectors in high-stakes matters. The first in his family to earn a college degree and the first openly LGBT person appointed to a cabinet-level position in Missouri, Jason is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bates College and Vanderbilt University Law School. Jason is the recipient of many awards for his civic work, including the St. Louis County NAACP’s Legacy Award in 2017. Esther Shin, M.S.W. President USI | Urban Strategies, Inc. Esther Shin is President of Urban Strategies, Inc. She leads a team of professionals with expertise in human capital and economic development to assist communities across the United States. Esther believes that all residents want safe, vibrant neighborhoods to work, live, and play. Esther’s expertise spans the spectrum of community transformation activities that range from resource development to community engagement to program development and evaluation. Esther has led or supported securing eleven Choice Neighborhood Implementation grants serving over 100,000 children and adults in 27 communities, amounting to more than $330 million in federal resources, which has leveraged more than $3 billion in additional investments. In 2016 Esther was selected by the Annie E. Casey Foundation for the tenth class of their Children and Family Fellowship. The Fellowship works to increase the pool of leaders with the vision and ability to frame and sustain major system reforms and community, capacity-building initiatives that benefit large numbers of children and families. Esther holds a Master’s Degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and Bachelor’s Degrees in both Political Science and English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis.
Paul Sorenson, M.S.W. Associate Director Community Innovation and Action Center Paul Sorenson leads the Community Innovation and Action Center's regional data strategies, including the formation of the Regional Data Alliance to promote a powerful agenda for how governments, funders, universities, and nonprofits can better use data for community change. Paul previously founded and ran GoodMap, an online tool for nonprofits to organize information about the services they provided to their communities. He also served as the Director of Strategic Planning at Grace Hill Settlement House from 2012 to 2017. Paul graduated from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis in 2012 and is slowly pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He was named one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s 30 Under 30 in 2014 and was a FOCUS St. Louis Impact Fellow as part of its 2016 inaugural cohort.
