Mother Xavier Honoree Mrs. Mary Beth (Casey) O’Brien, ‘59 Humanitarian, Advocate for the Poor, Former President of the Ladies of Charity USA Mary Beth (Casey) O'Brien, '59, earned her Bachelor of Science from the College of Saint Elizabeth and has devoted her life to Catholic education, access to healthcare and nutrition, and service to the poor and disadvantaged. She served in Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany and Catholic Charities USA, as well as the Albany chapter of the Association of International Charities of the United States of America (Ladies of Charity) and as president of the national organization. From 2002 to 2012, she represented Ladies of Charity at the United Nations.
Alumna Honoree Frances Weis-Garcia, PhD., ‘87 Head, Bi-Institutional Antibody and Bioresource Core Facility, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University Frances Weis-Garcia, PhD, has headed the Bi-Institutional Antibody and Bioresource Core Facility for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University since 1998, supporting researchers, including several nobel laureates. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a minor in Biology, from the College of Saint Elizabeth in 1987 and earned a Master in Science from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Massachusetts. She holds a Doctorate from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and conducted her postdoctoral studies at The Rockefeller University.
Community Honoree Sr. Patricia Codey, SC, Esq., ‘77 President, Catholic HealthCare Partnership of New Jersey Sr. Patricia Codey, SC, Esq., is president of The Catholic HealthCare Partnership of New Jersey, which supports the religious identity of Catholic health care. She works with other advocacy organizations to promote the health and well-being of all New Jerseyans. Sr. Pat received her law degree at the City University of New York Law School. As a lawyer, she served as assistant federal defender in the Federal Public Defender's Office, was senior managing attorney for Seeger Weiss LLP and clerked for the Honorable Michael J. Degnan, JSC.
