NQT Training Programme 2019/2020 Welcome Day for Newly Qualified Teachers Essential course for Newly Qualified Teachers who have secured a contract in schools and newly qualified supply teachers who have not completed statutory induction NQA20 Programme Introduction Welcome from Deputy Chief Education Officer, Steven Richards-Downes The course will provide detailed information and support for Induction including: The statutory induction process - an overview of the year ahead. Professional relationships and roles within the induction process. The Induction Profile and online Pebble Pad Tool - EWC The Professional Standards for Teachers Reflective practice and professional growth. Reflective practice and writing experience templates against the professional standards. Format of the Programme Training event focused upon developing shared understanding It is essential that participants bring an electronic device to the training. NQT Training Programme 2019/2020 Induction Mentors Day Essential course for the identified Induction Mentor in every school. Mentors need to attend, even if there is no NQT currently undertaking induction in the school. NQA19 Programme Introduction The course will provide detailed information and support for Induction including: The statutory induction process- an overview of the year ahead. NQT Training Programme 2019/2020 Talk the Talk Developing Confident Classroom Communication Skills for NQTs NQA21 Talk the Talk – Confident Communication for Life Outstanding teachers engage their students through clear and confident communication that enthusiastically conveys their knowledge and expertise. Talk The Talk has developed a model that uses confident communication as a primary tool for developing teaching practices and as well as promoting oracy across the curriculum. NQT Training Programme 2019/2020 Reflective Practice: Engagement, Depth and Challenge in the Classroom NQA25 DAY 1: | 02/10/2019 Areas covered include: Difference between good and great (cake/icing) Tweaking- identifying the little things that make the big difference Developing quality Questioning Assessment for learning in practice Introduction to The Magenta Principles - engagement, depth and challenge in the classroom Introducing delegates to a range of professional reflection tools that pro-mote professional learning DAY 2: | 09/03/2020 Review progress made since day one. Chance to share experiences relating to day one tasks The engagement triangle (E = Task + Facilitation) The Magenta Principles part two Professional Learning - additional tools to prompt professional reflection All course delegates will receive a copy of Mike Hughes’s book, ‘The Magenta Principles’. Mike Hughes Mike Hughes is the author of Tweak to Transform and The Magenta Principles and is a nationally recognised trainer. He has taught in secondary schools for 18 years and worked most recently as a secondary Headteacher. During that time, he also worked in an advisory capacity for Gloucestershire LEA and as a PGCE course leader. He is an OFSTED trained inspector and a facilitator on the New Visions programme for recently appointed head teachers.
