Goals: Improve early literacy and reading skills of kindergarten and 1st grade students by 5% from BOY to EOY as measured by NWEA-MAP reading. Supporting Objectives Related to Family Engagement: 1. To enhance families with a deeper understanding of academic content in math and literacy through family meetings and workshops. 2. To ensure effective involvement of families, Garden City Elementary School will hold school meetings at a variety of times with teachers and families to maximize family engagement and participation. 3. The staff will build a positive school-home connection with families and parents that overcome cultural and language barriers, through the use of monthly school calendars to ensure reading skills. 3
