CONTINUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUMMER 2020 SALOP TEACHING SCHOOL ALLIANCE We hope this CPD newsletter finds you and your families safe and well and that you are managing to find a route through these challenging times. We have been working hard to continue to provide you with our CPD offer for the Summer Term and are pleased to announce new ONLINE courses in Metacognition and Self-regulation and Mental Health Youth First Aider Certified Course. Online Courses Metacognition and self-regulation Online Course - Primary and Secondary Phase This course will cover: What is metacognition? What is self- regulation? How they can be used to support student's learning in the classroom (including sharing best practice)? How can we share what we know with other staff to have greater impact for our learners? Date: 17th June 2020 Time: 2 - 3.30 pm Cost: £35 per delegate Delivery: Online (Zoom Platform) Facilitator: Gavin Sterry, SLE, Deputy Headteacher, Thomas Adams School Working in partnership with Thomas Adams School Mental Health Youth First Aider Certified Course for teaching and support staff - Primary & Secondary Phase This mental health online course is an opportunity for staff (teachers and support staff) from primary and secondary phase, to become trained as Youth Mental Health First Aiders. The course is certificated by Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) and will be delivered over four sessions. It covers a range of issues including: eating disorders, depression and suicide. Dates/Times: All sessions will be held online from 3.30 to 6 pm Wednesday 24th June 2020 Thursday 25th June 2020 Tuesday 30th June 2020 Wednesday 1st July 2020 Course Fee for all sessions and resources - £150 per delegate Delivery: Online (Zoom platform) Facilitator: Gavin Sterry, SLE, Deputy Headteacher, Thomas Adams School Working in partnership with Thomas Adams School N.P.Q.M.L. - Secondary & Primary Phase - Online with 3 training events Secondary & Primary Phase National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership NPQML is for individuals who are, or are aspiring to become, a middle leader with responsibility for leading a team e.g. a key stage
leader, a subject leader, or a head of department. Dates & Delivery: On-line learning supported with three training events, dates tbc. Cost: £950 Working in partnership with Best Practice Network N.P.Q.S.L. - Secondary & Primary Phase - Online with 3 training events Secondary & Primary Phase National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership, NPQSL is suitable for senior leaders with cross-school responsibilities, for example an experienced middle leader, a deputy head, a special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO), an advanced skills teacher or a senior member of staff. Dates & Delivery: On-line learning supported with three training events, dates tbc Cost: £1,250 Working in partnership with Best Practice Network Leaders Apprenticeship and NPQ Course - Secondary & Primary Phase - Online with 3 training events Offered for the first time as a dual-award, school leaders can now access an accredited school leadership qualification funded through the apprenticeship levy. The Leader dual awards incorporate both the Level 5 Departmental/Operations Manager Apprenticeship and the DfE accredited National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) to provide outstanding leadership development underpinned by cross-sector learning and practice. Our vision is that every child can achieve and think as a mathematician. We provide free, highly regarded professional development for teachers of early years, primary, secondary and post-16 maths, working in partnership with The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) and other Maths Hubs. SHaW Maths Hub supports schools in Shropshire, Telford, Herefordshire and Wolverhampton. Women Leading in Education WLiE The alliance is delighted to be part of this initiative which aims to support women at all stages of their career progression, facilitating leadership development and coaching, and providing opportunities to network and share effective practice.
