ABOUT THE CENTRE Summerhouse was founded in 1978 as a family business, run by Helen, Sara & Rachel Gallop based in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. Summerhouse is highly commended by the British Horse Society and is one of the UK’s leading equestrian centres, with a grade one Ofsted outstanding accreditation. We strive to provide inspiring all-round equestrian based training – We do our utmost to deliver personalised service to all of our clients, making your visit unique and exclusive. Helen is CEO and a partner in Summerhouse. Helen holds her BHSI certificate and has competed at advanced level in Horse Trials, Show Jumping and Dressage. Helen’s time is spent working with the senior management team to oversee the running of Summerhouse, including the financial and Health & Safety aspect. Along with supporting both daughters Rachel & Sara Gallop. Sara and Rachel share the roll of Centre Manager here at Summerhouse, along with fulfilling the role of Advanced Instructors. Sara is an International Grand Prix Dressage Rider & Trainer, and is in training with Carl Hester MBE & Charlotte Dujardin CBE. Rachel is an International Grand Prix Show Jump Rider & Trainer and is in training with Rowland Fernyhough, Julie Andrews & Adrian Whiteway. Sara and Rachel are very committed to the training of their young horses and have an exciting string of future prospects with horses training between national & International young horse classes to Grand Prix in both Dressage and Show Jumping.

MEET SARA GALLOP AND HER COMPETITION HORSES Sara Gallop is a BHSII, Group 1 International Grand Prix Dressage Rider and Trainer, Summerhouse Equestrian and Training Centre in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire. Competing and training horses from International young horse classes to Grand Prix level, holding 2 British Dressage National titles & 6 Regional championship titles, training under Olympic Gold Medallist, Carl Hester MBE and Double gold Medallist and World Champion, Charlotte Dujardin OBE. Teaching and training directly from Summerhouse, Sara also coaches and rides externally from the centre. As Chief Instructor for the Prestige Training department at Summerhouse Equestrian and Training Centre, Sara also offers schoolmaster lessons on a superb variety of ex competition horses, available for all disciplines, as well as lessons on your own horse. MEET RACHEL GALLOP AND HER COMPETITION HORSES Rachel competes a number of the Summerhouse syndicate Show Jumping horses, ranging from BS young horse classes up to Senior Grand Prix level, including young riders classes, training under Rowland Fernyhough (Olympic and Nations Cup team member) and Julie Andrews (International Showjump Rider and Trainer) Rachel has a sensitive approach towards helping riders develop confidence towards jumping, whether your starting with pole work or looking to develop round a course. COURSE DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS The Aim of this course is to give you all round, work based experience and knowledge to gain a career in the Equine Industry. During the course you will be working towards a Diploma in Work Based Horse Care and Functional Skills qualifications as well as gaining experience in each part of the business, such as the Riding School, Competition yard, Reception and the Show department. 4 day week allowing you time for private training/study/competitions You are paid an apprenticeship wage of £111.00 per week (correct as of 1st April 2018 and subject to future change) Live in costs £49.00 per week (correct as of 1st April 2018 and subject to future change) You will need to be confident in walk, trot and canter, preferably with and without stirrups. Some jumping experience is an advantage. You need basic stable management skills in mucking out, grooming and tacking up. Basic Math and Communication Skills (a GCSE A-C in Math and English is an advantage, but not a requirement, as we have specialist tutors available). The course will take 12 months to complete. APPRENTICESHIP FRAMEWORK LEVEL 2 Level 2 Diploma in Work Based Horse Care Functional Skills English Level 1 (equivalent to GCSE D-G) Functional Skills Math Level 1 (equivalent to GCSE D-G) Apprentices with a GCSE ‘D’ or ‘E’ will be given the opportunity to work towards a Functional Skills level 2 qualification (equivalent to GCSE A-C) Employment Rights and Responsibilities Workbook Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Workbook Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care The framework consists of Mandatory units, which everyone must complete and Optional and Pathway units which you can choose depending on your job role and aspirations.
