Yorkshire Terrier Club of America 2018 National Specialty The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, Inc. invites you to join in the festivities at the 2018 Specialty, starting August 10th. The Specialty will be held in conjunction with the Southeast Michigan Yorkshire Terrier Club and offers two shows at the same location featuring two Sweepstake events, two Conformation events and two Agility/Obedience/Rally Trials. The information in this Planning Booklet will guide you through the scheduled events and provide you with information on all activities of the Specialty. The 800 number nor online reservations have access to the Group Rate. PLEASE PLAN TO STAY AT OUR HOST HOTEL TO HELP DEFER SOME OF THE COST OF THE BALLROOM. Each Night Counts! Housekeeping 1. All dogs left unattended in hotel guest rooms must be crated 2. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, Inc. will require attendees to place sheets of plastic under the crates. Up to six dogs will be permitted per room. 3. Housekeepers will not have to service rooms in which dogs are loose and unattended. Moreover, they will be required to report this rule violation to hotel management. A pet deposit of $40 (one time fee per room) will be charged for each room in which a dog is housed. Individual room occupants will be assessed for any damage or destruction to their room. 4. Dogs will be bathed in designated areas for dog washing. There will be no grooming of dogs in hotel rooms and no hotel towels will be used for this purpose. 5. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America will assign a liaison to meet daily with the Head of Housekeeping and hotel management to assure that all of its members are complying with hotel rules. Any offenders will be asked to leave hotel immediately. 6. Dogs will not be permitted in any of the hotel recreation areas, including the swimming pools, and any other areas to be stipulated as “non-dog” locations. 7. Dogs will not be permitted in food and beverage outlets, with the exception of those assisting the disabled. 8. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America will work with hotel management to establish a sufficient number of dog walking/exercising areas for all Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and management will create a site map with the designated areas clearly marked. These areas will also be staked and marked with colored tape so it is evident where they are located. 9. The hotel will provide trash receptacles in the designated exercised areas for deposit of waste. 10. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America will provide plastic bags and appropriate scoops, etc. for the collection of waste. 11. Pick up and removal of waste will be the responsibility of each dog owner/handler. 12. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America will appoint a Grounds Committee to continuously monitor all exercise areas to assure that members comply with the rules. 13. No Soft Sided Crates in Eukanuba Hall 14. Convention Center doors must be closed during event hours for safety of the dogs; Eukanuba Hall/Roberts Centre/Holiday will take no responsibility to insure doors remain closed. 15. No dogs can be left/crated in Eukanuba Hall overnight RV Parking All RV exhibitors are asked to check-in upon their arrival with the Hotel front desk. Advanced arrangements need to be made to overnight at the facility past the last day of the event you’re attending. As good neighbors, please keep all equipment, extra cars (max of 2), etc. in your assigned area and dispose of all trash in receptacles provided. RV parking is in the gravel lot next to Eukanuba Hall D. There are NO hookups. RV parking is charged at a rate of $25.00 per night and guests must check-in at the front desk of the Holiday Inn to receive a parking permit prior to parking. 4
SHIPPING / DELIVERIES Hotel and Centre - Special arrangements must be made for receiving any equipment, goods, displays or other materials, which will be sent, delivered or brought into the Hotel and/or Centre. Failure to do this may result in deliveries being refused or materials being unavailable when required. The Hotel & Centre’s receiving entrance is open from 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Any materials being sent to the Hotel and/or Centre must be marked as follows: 1. HOLD FOR ARRIVAL ATTN: Guest’s Name & Organization ARRIVAL DATE: 00/00/00 2. COMPLETE RETURN ADDRESS 3. The Hotel & Centre do not accept any liability for equipment, goods, displays, or other materials, which arrive or fail to arrive at the Hotel and/or Centre. The Group is responsible for insuring its property for loss or damage. Due to limited storage space, we can accept items no more than three days prior to your meeting. Additional shipping/handling information is available when requested. Airport Both Cincinnati and Columbus Ohio Airports are approximately 60 miles from the Roberts Center and the Dayton Ohio airport is 32 miles. The Roberts Center does not have ground transportation to and from these airports so Uber/Lyft or a rental car would be the best options. Medical Emergency These steps are to be followed in the event a guest is taken ill or injured: 1. Guests should be directed to Clinton Memorial Hospital, 610 W Main St., Wilmington, OH 45177. 937-382-6611 2. In an emergency situation such as a heart attack, drowning or fall, the victim should be responded to in an appropriate manner administer CPR (if certified) and an ambulance should be called by dialing 911. 3. Try to notify next of kin or a friend traveling with the group. Disaster Evacuation Procedures 1. In the case of a severe weather storm or other instances not including a fire evacuation, leave your room immediately and head for the nearest stairwell. DO NOT USE THE ELEVATORS. 2. Go to the lowest level of the hotel and wait for further instructions. 3. Do not stand near any windows. 4. Utilize the same system for removing your dogs from the room (a large pillowcase) unless you are able to carry the crate with you. Take your room key. 5. Follow instructions from hotel management and/or fire and police personnel. Dog Evacuation Procedures 1. In the case of a fire or other evacuation, have a king size pillowcase nearby. Place as many dogs as possible in the pillowcase and twist the top. This will enable you to carry them out of the building safely. There is no chance of suffocation to the dogs inside the case. 2. It’s a good idea to keep a few leads inside the case. When you reach the outside you have some way to keep control of the animals. 3. Do not endanger your life or the lives of others in your room by spending time searching for your dogs. If they are properly penned or crated, you should be able to gather them quickly and easily. Public Education Assorted informational pamphlets and handouts will be available along with AKC brochures. The Illustrated Discussion of the Yorkshire Terrier and Heritage II will also be available for purchase. Logo Wear See order form for details Cut Down Classes A competition for Yorkshire Terriers that are 12 months of age or older on the day of the show and shown with a trimmed coat (“schnauzer trim: or “puppy trim” or less). Topknots are allowed. The judge will be asked to withhold placements for any entry presented in a coat that resembles a show coat. Champions and non-champions will be shown together. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches are eligible to participate. Dogs entered in the “Cut-Down Class” do not need to be entered in one of the regular classes. Classes will be: 1 to 7 years of age 7 to 11 years of age 12 years and older Royal Canin Seminar Our wonderful sponsor, Royal Canin, invites all national Exhibitors to a seminar presented by Dr. Rick Kessler about the benefits of DNA Testing.
