availability, fully vaccinated individuals should
no longer be advised to wear face coverings or
    avoid social and recreational gatherings

Updated CDC Guidance for Vaccinated
Individuals 5/16/21
• https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-
    vaccinated.html
• Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a
mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal,
state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including
    local business and workplace guidance.
• CDC recommends schools continue to use the COVID-19
prevention strategies outlined in the current version of CDC’s
Operational Strategy for K-12 Schools for at least the remainder of
    the 2020-2021 academic school year.

                                                                               15

    Public Schools www.scps.us

Face Coverings/Masks
• Decision Point: When will face masks be recommended in
    schools?
• Recommendation:
• Guidance was consistent that vaccinated individuals should not
have to mask and that vaccines are highly effective at protecting
    from illness.
• Strongly encourage that unvaccinated individuals continue all
    protective measures available, including masking.
• Recognize that everyone will need to make determinations for
their own unique situation and should create atmosphere of
    respect for all.

                                                                        16
Seminole County
    Public Schools www.scps.us

Face Coverings/Masks (cont.)
• Some staff members may be required to wear personal protective
equipment (PPE) when working with symptomatic students/staff or
with medically fragile student populations that are not yet eligible
    for vaccination.
• Some students or staff may have unique accommodation needs
      • Staff can work with ADA Coordinator for these individual
          requests.
      • Students and their families can work with Section 504 and IEP
teams, with involvement of School Board Nurse, for
          individualized accommodation needs.

                                                                           17

Social Distancing
Social Distancing in classroom and campus educational settings is one
prevention strategy to utilize, as feasible, with other key mitigation
strategies to implement healthy campuses:
• Currently there are no restrictions or recommendations for social
    distancing for vaccinated individuals.
• Updated guidance removed recommendations for plastic shields or
    dividers
• Provide social distancing floor/seating markings in waiting and
    reception areas.
• Provide signage in restrooms and locker rooms to remind for proper
    social distancing.
• Provide reminders to staff and students to stay at least 3 feet apart,
    when possible, indoors.

                                                                             18
Seminole County
    Public Schools www.scps.us

Social Distancing
Recommendations (continued)
• Schools will have a combination of both vaccinated and
    unvaccinated individuals.
      • The reopening team recognizes the positive educational
          impact of collaborative, project-based learning.
      • Schools and teachers should plan for both small group and
collaborative work experiences during the day.
      • It is critical to maintain seating charts of members of small
groups/lab partners/etc. in the event of contact tracing
          needs.

                                                                           19

Screening for Illness and Isolating Symptomatic
Individuals
• The district and schools will communicate information to parents
and employees about the symptoms of COVID-19 and ask them to
self-screen before coming to school. Students and employees
exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 without being otherwise
explained, are prohibited from coming to school, and if they do
come to school, they should be sent home immediately.
• Each school with have a designated clinic staff member and back
up staff trained in best practice procedures for isolating students
who present with symptoms related to COVID-19. These best
practice procedures include providing student with a surgical
mask, socially distancing the student away from other persons,
donning of PPE by clinic staff working with symptomatic student,
isolating the student until parent/guardian can pick up.
Parent/guardian should enter the building to sign student out and
    leave immediately.

                                                                      20
Seminole County
    Public Schools www.scps.us

Quarantine/Isolation Guidlines
• Students and employees will be isolated from school if they test
positive for COVID-19 in accordance with state/local requirements.
• SCPS, in collaboration with Department of Health(DOH), will utilize
contact tracing to determine close contacts of COVID positive
    individuals.
• Students and staff determined to be in close contact with a COVID
positive individual will be required to quarantine in accordance
with state/local guidance unless that person is two weeks past
completed COVID vaccination or is within 90 days of being COVID
    positive.
• Student athletes may be subject to extended timelines for
quarantine from athletics and gradual release to return to play in
    order to ensure their safety.

                                                                          21
Seminole County
    Public Schools www.scps.us

Reporting Protocols
• Each campus will have an administrative designee,
COVID Safety Manager (CSM) to oversee the reporting
process in collaboration with Department of Health.
• Seating charts for classrooms and transportation will be
maintained and updated for contact tracing
    procedures.
• Positive cases and exposures will be reported to DOH
    through the Illness Logs.
• Case data will be reported to the public on the
    dashboard.

Safeguards – Campus Visitors / Volunteers
The reopening task force recognizes the important role that
visitors, volunteers, and agency providers play on our campus.
Recommendation:
• Visitors / volunteers should adhere to all school health protocols
and are encouraged to maintain social distancing when possible.
• Encourage deliveries during student non-attendance times, or
minimize vendor deliveries during the school day, where feasible.
• May need to post new maximum occupancy numbers in certain
    areas of district/schools.
• Allow outside food/drink for classroom parties and celebrations.

                                                                         23

Safeguards – Campus Events
• Social distancing should be encouraged during indoor events,
when possible, for spectators and participants.
• Recommendation for 50% capacity at indoor events
• Entry to concerts, plays, and other events should have cashless
transaction options such as: credit/debit card readers or online
    prepaid tickets.
• Hand sanitizer stands should be placed at the entry/exit of all
venues and concession stands for spectator use.
• Large concerts, plays, and other events can be streamed or
recorded for fans to watch remotely.

                                                                       24

Safeguards – Cleaning and Disinfection
The CDC and OSHA provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection of
schools and buildings. The district will support schools by providing:
• Training on disinfection methods and quality control expectations
    for custodial employees.
• Central ordering system for disinfection products and PPE.
      • Provide direction to schools and district departments on ordering
cleaning and safety products for each site.
• Hand-held, hospital grade misting machines to assist in volume and
output potential of High Touch Surface disinfection.
      • After-hours operations shall include High Touch Surface disinfection
with hand-held, hospital grade mister as part of the normal
          custodial effort.
• Custodians to assist with cleaning and disinfecting all common areas.
      • Ensure that all disinfectants are stored in a proper location.
                                                                              25

Safeguards – Cleaning and Disinfection
Schools will be required to:
• Supply soap, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, paper towels, and tissue.
      • Facilities will provide schools with directions on how to order supplies
          through the warehouse.
• Reinforce hand washing with soap for 20 seconds and/or hand sanitizer use.
• Encourage staff and students to cough and sneeze in elbows, or to cover with a
tissue. Used tissues must be thrown in trash and hands washed immediately.

tables, desks, chairs, door handles, light switches, railings, faucet/toilet handles,
drinking fountains, playground equipment, gym equipment, cafeteria
