The Nantucket Community School’s Early Childhood Education programs are made possible through
collaborations between the Town of Nantucket, the Nantucket Public Schools and the Massachusetts
Department of Early Education and Care. All of our FREE, exciting and enriching programs for children birth
to eight years of age are partially funded through the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement
(CFCE) grant. Be sure to join a playgroup, attend a parent education class or come by one of our fun family
events!
If you have any parenting or brain-building questions about your child, please contact one of our
Early Childhood Education Specialists who will assist you or connect you with the pertinent island resource.
Our team is here to support ALL island families!

PLAYGROUPS
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 9:00 a.m. at the Early Childhood
Center, in its NEW location at Nantucket Elementary School, 30 Surfside Road. Space is allocated on a first come, first served
basis. No registrations will be accepted before this date.
While we do our best to accommodate as many families as possible, groups do fill so we often run waitlists.
Commitment to your playgroup is essential. Failure to attend for two consecutive weeks without excusing yourself will
result in your space being offered to the next family on the waitlist. If you are unable to attend registration, you may have a
 friend register for you.
We ask that you sign up for one Playgroup per family, and if space becomes available in an alternate group, we will
also offer that space to you.

Designed for children ages 3.5 years old to 11 years old, we will be offering a variety of swim lesson options. Our developmental
guidelines and philosophies involve promoting a fun and safe environment for children to learn to become strong, confident and smart
swimmers. We strive to build a foundation of comfort, knowledge and respect of the water where swimmers will develop skills starting with
the basic understanding of acclamation, floating and breathing. There are four levels offered to target individual needs in two age group
categories. They include Introduction to Water Skills (Level 1), Fundamental Aquatics Skills (Level 2), Stroke Development (Level 3) and
Stroke Refinement (Level 4).
If you are looking for a particular week and time and the class is full, please add your swimmer to the waitlist. Enrollments do
change week-to-week based on swimmer advancement and scheduling conflicts. Waitlist is first come, first served. When signing up for
multiple weeks, use your best judgment on what level. We will make changes as necessary.
Pre-School Ages: 3 years 6 months to 5 years old; School Age Ages: 6-11 years old
If your swimmer has aged up to School Age, please enroll them in the level they were in previously. They don't automatically start
back in Level 1. Example: At age 5, if they were in Level 3, please enroll into Level 3 at age 6.
