Dear Friend, I’m so glad you are considering a Trinity Class. The great preaching during our Sunday gathering can only scratch the surface on the bottomless depths of the gospel. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” This catalog will introduce you to all the different Trinity Classes as well as other affinity groups where Scripture is explored and applied and help you choose which one(s) best applies to an area where you would like to grow. Generally speaking, Trinity Classes fall into three categories, Gospel Exposure, Gospel Expansion, and Gospel Expression. They represent areas of your faith journey in which you can always continue to learn, apply, and grow. These categories are not mutually exclusive, but different classes will have special emphasis on one or more of the three. The question you need to answer is “what area do I most need growth in right now?” That will help you choose a class. How to best use this catalog: • Read through the descriptions of the class categories. • Pray about which category you need growth in most right now. • Look for the classes offered in that category, and check compatibility with your schedule. • Consider the affinity groups for more ongoing interaction. • Email the contact person with any questions. • Register for the class(es) on trinitychurchmn.com/resources/ online-registration. • Come ready to grow and to help others grow to be more like Jesus. Thank you for choosing Trinity Classes. Sincerely, Tim Pace Community Life & Adult Ministries Pastor 952.469.6266 2
CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS Gospel Exposure: There are always more areas of our lives that need to be exposed to the gospel. This foundational category poses questions like: Who is God? Why do I need God? What does God think of me? How could the gospel possibly apply to…? Gospel Expansion: This category applies the gospel understanding to all areas of life. Classes in this category explore questions like: How does the gospel influence my work? my marriage? my parenting? etc. Gospel Expression: It’s a natural response to share the joy we feel as the gospel changes our lives. Classes in this category ask the question, “Who am I sharing with and how?” TABLE OF CONTENTS Sunday Classes 4 Women’s Classes 6 Future Additions 9 Affinity Groups 10 3
Gospel of Mark Sundays, Jan. 9 - May 15, 9 AM Online Only via Zoom The Gospel of Mark is written simply and is based on eyewitness accounts of our Lord’s miracles, teachings, empathy, and emotions. It is a wonderful testimony to our Lord, and to His amazing life. This Gospel was written by John Mark, who worked alongside the Apostle Simon Peter. As they worked, Mark observed, listened, studied, ministered, and remembered. At this time family stories were told and retold by family elders to their youngsters, so that family stories and traditions were accurately passed down from generation to generation. Storytelling (and the willingness to accurately remember) was finely honed, since education - reading and writing - was unusual among the common people. The Gospel of Mark was written based on the testimony of eyewitnesses to the ministry of our Lord Jesus. Can a person start anytime? Yes, but those who start on Jan. 9 will gain the most benefit. What level of commitment/intensity is involved? There is no homework. Discussion will be via Zoom with the link provided before the class starts. Is there a book to purchase or class fee? No Contact Chuck Tremain 4
Your Story in His Story Sundays, Jan. 9 - Feb. 6, 9 AM Community Center A & B Grade 6 through Adults Every person you encounter, every community you enter, and every culture you engage has a dominant story with many sub-stories. The dominant story is the most prominent, compelling, and controlling informant for how people perceive God, others, and the world. Some call this a worldview because it is the lens through which they view the world. One’s worldview shapes how they receive and process information, engage in relationships, make decisions, and shape their philosophy and beliefs. In this five-week workshop you will discover in a fresh way how your personal story is part of a much larger story, the story of God. You will work in small groups to identify, write, and tell your story in such a way that it renews your faith helps fuel your life on mission for Jesus. Can a person start anytime? Yes, but those who start on Jan. 9 will gain the most benefit. What level of commitment/intensity is involved? You will be writing and sharing your story. The more “work” you put in, the more you will get out of this practical, hands-on class. Is there a book to purchase or class fee? No Contact Tim Pace 5
The Twelve Disciples Tuesdays, Jan. 18 - Apr. 26, 9:30 - 11:30 AM Community Center A & B Studying the twelve disciples can transform our lives as we see how the Master can take the most fear-filled and faithless among us and empower us to be confident witnesses of His grace and forgiveness. We will see how the Master molds and uses these men and investigate how that same Master is also molding us today. Can a person start anytime? Yes, but those who start on Jan. 18 will gain the most benefit. What level of commitment/intensity is involved? Weekly lessons are done in between classes. Is there a book to purchase or class fee? The fee, including book, is $12 and can be paid the first day of class. Contact Stacey Jagt 6
He Speaks to Me Tuesdays, Feb. 1 - Apr. 26, 9:30—11:30 AM Community Center A & B When we approach God humbly and bow down before Him, we put ourselves in a position to hear from Him. Are you longing to hear God’s voice, but feeling disconnected? God wants to speak directly to each of His beloved children, not to just a few “spiritual elite.” Priscilla Shirer looks at God’s call to Samuel and uncovers six characteristics essential for hearing from God: a simple relationship, a single-minded worship, a set-apart holiness, a still attentiveness, a sold-out hunger, and a servant spirit. Her warmth and honesty, combined with a wealth of practical help, will inspire you to cultivate these traits in your own life. By doing so, you will prepare yourself to draw closer to Him and to hear His voice more clearly. Can a person start anytime? Yes, but those who start on Feb. 1 will gain the most benefit. What level of commitment/intensity is involved? Uses a workbook with 5 relatively short lessons to be done every 2 weeks. Every other week, we will meet to watch a video together and discuss the lessons. Is there a book to purchase or class fee? The fee, including book, is $17 and can be paid the first day of class. Colossians Mondays, Mar. 7 - May 2, 9:30 - 11:30 AM Community Center E What we think about Jesus matters. Our perception of Him shapes us—what we say, how we treat others, even what we think. If we paint Jesus as any less than who He is as supreme over all creation and savior of the world, not only does our theology slip, but the working out of our faith also suffers. Studying the book of Colossians helps us form a complete picture of Jesus. What we believe about Him influences everything from our corporate worship to our relationships to our attitude toward sin. Now alive in Christ, we can live a life worthy of God instead of falling back into the ways of the world. Can a person start anytime? Yes, but those who start on Mar. 7 will gain the most benefit. What level of commitment/intensity is involved? There is weekly homework, however, we understand that work does not always get completed. We welcome all to come regardless of the state of their homework. Is there a book to purchase or class fee? No Contact Deb Binder 8
