The decision in choosing Brisbane as the destination for the Meals on Wheels National
Conference came down to a number of contributing factors. Offering a relaxed city
atmosphere, Conference delegates will immediately feel at ease. Brisbane also
provides an excellent transport service that will assist you to get to and from the
airport and move around the city and also offers many attractions that you may wish
to extend your stay to see.

Welcome and transfers
We will provide you with reduced air train fares to help you get from the airport to city stations.
A code will be provided prior to your travel to Brisbane.

Travel time from the airport to Brisbane CBD is approximately 20 minutes.

Brisbane also offers:
    A compact and walkable city centre
    Free local transport on the City Loop (a CBD bus service) and the City Hopper (a ferry service
    stopping at inner-city locations along the Brisbane River).

Brisbane Greeters Program
This is an ambassador welcome service that offers Conference delegates on a complimentary basis to go
behind the scenes of the city to really connect with Brisbane. This includes getting to know Brisbane and
its surrounds, history, arts and culture, architecture, indigenous heritage or wining and dining.

This departs at 10am each day and further details will be provided in your registration information.

What to see and do!
City Winery
The last time Brisbane had an inner-city winery was 1860, almost 160
years ago. Now a converted warehouse in Fortitude Valley is home to
City Winery, Brisbane. This working micro-winery sources grapes from
across Australia's key growing regions, bringing them to the city, where
Winemaker, Dave Cush creates delicious wine.

Taste award-winning wines or try the signature wine blending
experience with cuisine made from local produce from small farmers in
the Brisbane region.

The Tomahawk Experience treats guests to a 1kg Tomahawk steak, red-
claw yabbies and sumptuous sides.

Howard Smith Wharves
Enjoy Queensland’s best cuisine at Howard Smith Wharves, an exciting
new riverfront entertainment precinct, with uninterrupted views of the
Story Bridge and city skyline.

Try a brewery tour and beer tasting at Felons Brewery Co. or enjoy the
best local seafood and premium beef, paired with Australia’s finest
wines, in a stunning private dining setting overlooking the Brisbane
River.

South Bank Cultural Precinct
South Bank Cultural Precinct is the city's premier lifestyle and cultural
destination.

Featuring Australia's only inner-city man-made beach, 17 hectares of

Eat Street is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and available for
large private events.

River to Bay
River to Bay is your passport to explore, linking the city of Brisbane to the

On joining your boat, you will cruise downstream from Brisbane and out
into the crystal-clear waters of Moreton Bay.

Direct Factory Outlets (DFO) Brisbane is a single level outlet centre
located 5 minutes from Brisbane Airport.

Following a recent expansion, the centre comprises more than 130
outlet retailers, including Calvin Klein, Fossil, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger and
Mimco.

Markets are also regularly held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, giving
ample opportunity to take home a handmade treasure.

Scenic Walks
Explore Brisbane on-foot with at least 16 short and scenic walks on your
doorstep.

Whether you're interested in the fresh sea air on the coastal tracks, to

Take a break in a park
Brisbane City Council is home to more than 2160 parks across Brisbane,
with more created all the time.

With parks ranging in size from small to large, three botanic gardens
and many bushland reserves, these green spaces make the perfect spot
to take a break from all the learnings of the National Conference and
enjoy a leisurely stroll, read a book or meditate.
