                                                        The Ladies Day series has been included in the winter

                                                        mid-series and ending race in the CYCA’s Audi Centre
                                                        Sydney Winter Series. For many teams it’s not about
                                                        changing-up the whole crew and filling the team with
                                                        just females, it’s about working the gender balance and

                                                        For team Finn and Outlaw which only have a few one-design
                                                        competitions throughout the year, this gives them an insight
                                                        in to how the other team is improving and what they can
                                                        work on while in a competitive but friendly environment.

                                                        “Winter Series is our time to perfect our spinnaker work and
                                                        crew work, in a hope for doing the full one-design series,”
                                                        Treleaven says.

                                                        “We want to be ready to do that and It will definitely be with
                                                        the same crew with the same philosophy heading in to the
                                                        one-design racing.”

                                                        The 2018 season saw the inclusion of a new division to the
                                                        field with IRC joining the very popular PHS series. As many
                                                        of the boats will head in to the summer series and compete
                                                        in fleets under this system it means that there is time to test
                                                        the boat against many of their usual competitors in varying
                                                        conditions and situations that will prove to be beneficial to
                                                        their team’s improvement.

                                                        “The close racing across the IRC Division pushed us to
                                                        continually improve our game-day performance week on
                                                        week,” Zoe Taylor, owner and skipper of Grace O’Malley, says.

                                                        “It’s a fantastic playing field to try out different boat set-ups
                                                        in varying conditions over 10 weeks. Even though inshore
                                                        and offshore are two different headsets, the series is really
                                                        nice preparation for us to work as a team ahead of the Audi
                                                        Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore.”

                                                    CYCA’s annual prize-giving ceremony in Darling Point in July.

                                                              Participants across all divisions enjoyed a
                                                           memorable season, filled with sunshine and breeze
                                                                and the occasional winter southerly.

                                                          More than 250 guests packed the CYCA temporary
                                                        Clubhouse on Friday to celebrate the successful season,
                                                        with Audi Centre Sydney presenting crews with prizes,
                                                        including those who participated in the Club’s IRC trial.
