SESSION OVERVIEW Name of the session: Aisi 2021 - 1st Digital Session of EYP Georgia Session theme: “Welcoming the rays of change” Dates: 2-5 April, 2021 Head Organiser: Elene Shamanadze (GE) President: Oisín McGinley (IE) Editress: Valérie Cafaro (CH) SESSION VISION Dearest Network, We are proud to present AISI 2021 -1st Digital Session of EYP Georgia. The session is a brand new endeavour from the EYP Georgia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of the national committee. The session itself is dedicated to fostering innovation and progress as a means of adapting to change, as outlined in the session theme: “Welcoming the rays of change”. The session will be head-organised by Elene Shamanadze and she is eager to make this event as fruitful and memorable as it can be. You can find her vision about the session below. VISION OF HEAD-ORGANISER Greetings! My name is Elene, I am eighteen years old and I come from the capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi. It is my pleasure to announce and lead the first digital session of EYP Georgia - “Aisi”. Being in this organisation for three years has taught me to see different versions of myself and test myself in diverse waters. This is what inspired me to head- organise this session: I wanted to portray the ways of how fun innovation and progress can be. EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT GEORGIA 4
NAME OF THE SESSION Aisi is a Georgian word meaning “Sunrise”, as sunrise represents a new day and novel beginnings, I wanted it to symbolise the new discoveries that “Aisi” is going to make. A beautiful start to ambitious beginnings, while welcoming the rays of change. My objective for the session is based on discovering alternative pathways of reaching the most excellent versions of ourselves, through a creative perspective. RELEVANCE OF THE SESSION THEME The world has been going through a pandemic for the past year and young people all over the world had to find a way to adapt to the current circumstances: to continue their education and do their tasks online. This took a lot of personal innovation and progress from everyone to reach a point where it is accessible to use digital platforms to perform their tasks. From not knowing what “Zoom” is to using it everyday, it took courage and novelty to learn new skills and use them as our own. This is what I wanted to pass on to the people who will attend this session. Adapting from physical sessions to digital ones was one of the hardest transitions participants of the European Youth Parliament had to face. Some did not continue their journey in the organisation, because they believe that digital sessions do not hold the same experiences as physical ones do. In actuality, digital sessions hold an alternative way of doing what we love while maintaining our involvement in solving pressing issues that face Europe today. This is a new opportunity for the participants to gain novel skills, build more relations, make new memories and the most important of all: to learn creative and innovative ways of “welcoming the rays of change”. SELF DEVELOPMENT Due to the current socio-political situation in the world, the theme of innovation and progress holds an enormous place in our current society. Attending digital sessions is not only an innovation, but it is also a safe way to enjoy what we love doing the most - doing EYP. Enjoying sessions from the comfort of our room is a progress, it is a progress to see that doing big things does not take a lot of work, but rather a smart and diverse pathway. Achieving the best versions of ourselves is a creative path, one that I wish all of the participants to achieve at “Aisi”. EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT GEORGIA 5
VISION OF PRESIDENT AISI is set to be a unique event that will be characterised by ideas, exchange and inspiration. The digital session format paves the way for innovation and I am looking for “rays of sunshine” who are eager to contribute towards this culture of novel approaches and open minds by “welcoming the rays of change”. IDEAS It is my intention to ensure that AISI is idea-driven, meaning that the academic team will be given the liberty to collaborate with each other, take ownership and pursue a more meaningful connection with participants. I aim to facilitate a high level of per- sonal development that comes hand in hand with this ability to innovate by cultivating an atmosphere where failures are just as important as successes. Therefore I am looking for team members who are self-aware and capable of applying the lessons they have learned so far in EYP to the session. EXCHARGE Furthermore, I want to make AISI a place of exchange. The peer to peer and informal aspects of EYP has always stood out to me hence I want to make this a central theme at AISI. I firmly believe that we all have something to offer each other and AISI will go about achieving this is an engaging and stimulating manner. For this reason, I want to gather an academic team with varying levels of experience and region. I encourage anyone with the necessary passion and motivation to make this event special, to consider applying with high priority. INSPIRATION In order to inspire, AISI will focus on its session output to create a lasting impact for participants, hence I hope to find team members with a shared desire to empower participants both throughout and beyond the session. Inspiration also applies within the academic team as I hope to build a team that is not bound by the traditional understanding of the role of a “chairperson”. I am looking for team members who are eager to learn, share and inspire through any medium they see fit. I hope that this vision resonates with you and I eagerly await your applications! Should you have any questions about the event or my vision don’t hesitate to contact me! Oisín McGinley (IE) President of AISI’21 EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT GEORGIA 6
VISION OF EDITOR Inspired by the sunrise in the name and the logo of the session, I envision the Media Team daring to reflect on themselves and their previous journey and embark on this new adventure with AISI 2021 together. The foundation of this team will be laid by the self- awareness of each individual. Before we will be able to work on this project together as a team, everyone will get the time and guidance to reflect on themselves and assess what they want to work on. As a potential future member of the Media Team of AISI 2021, you will get to ask yourself, who YOU are in this team and what work YOU can contribute with. The goal of this stage is to assess your own needs and prepare for the coming challenges on a technical and emotional level. Once we take this first step, we will be able to move on to the next stage. Under the common theme of “A beautiful start to ambitious beginnings, while welcoming the rays of change.” the Media Team is going to tell the story of AISI 2021 together in unison. In contrast to the output of other sessions, we will try to pull one coherent red thread throughout our projects. AISI 2021 will be our story to tell and it is up to us to define its exposition, describe the action and find a resolution. While the projects will capture different entities of the story, they do by no means have to be executed in the same medium. The challenge will be up to us to establish coherence within a variety of different media pieces. The last remark of the vision concerns the role of the media team within the officials’ team. In coordination with the other members of the leadership, we have decided to strive for close bonds between our teams. AISI 2021 will be the perfect opportunity to come together in this unique constellation of individuals and learn from one another and support each other in the process of striving for new beginnings. The Media Team will take on the role of facilitators and not only be there for their own team but also reach out to their fellow officials. I cannot wait for your applications and do not hesitate to get in touch with me in case of questions! Valérie Cafaro (CH) Editor of AISI’21 EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT GEORGIA 7
