Orienteering World Cup 2020 Round #3, Italy – Bulletin 1 WELCOME TO ITALY Dear athletes and IOF nations, ladies and gentlemen, As the Organizing committee we are pleased to organize the final World Cup round for year 2020 and we would like to take this opportunity to give you a warm welcome to this wonderful sporting, cultural and tourist event in the fantastic area of Italian Prealps. We will do everything we can to make this a wonderful experience for all of you who take part in this Event. Hope to see you all in Italy next year! Orienteering World Cup 2020 Round #3, Italy – Bulletin 1 WORLD CUP 2020 The World Cup 2020 consists of the following 9 competitions: World Cup round 1, Switzerland 21 May Long Distance 22-23 May Knock-Out Sprint 24 May Sprint World Cup round 2 with European Championship, Estonia 20 August Long Distance 22 August Middle Distance 23 August Relay (forest) World Cup round 3, Italy 1 October Long Distance 3 October Middle Distance 4 October Relay (forest) Runners are awarded World Cup points as per World Cup 2020 Special Rules. 1. Orienteering World Cup 2020 Round #3, Italy – Bulletin 1 1.4 EVENT INFORMATION Bulletin 1+2 will be published by end of December 2019. Bulletin 3 will be published by 31st July 2020. Final details will be released in Bulletin 4 upon arrival at the Event Centre, as well as in electronic format in the IOF Eventor and on Event the homepage on 28th September 2020. 2. VENUES, ACCESS AND TRANSPORT The Event will be located in Northern Italy, around Cansiglio Forest. The detailed con- siderations about access and transport will be provided in Bulletin 1+2. 4. EVENT CENTRE The Event Centre will be located at Banca Prealpi Convention Centre’s Auditorium in Tarzo, Province of Treviso. 6

ENTRY 5.1 ENTRIES AND ENTRY DEADLINES All Entries and accommodation packages are only to be made in IOF Eventor, the event page is located at: https://eventor.orienteering.org/Events/Show/6490 The entry forms will be available online from 1 February 2020 Important dates ▪ The first event date is 01 October 2020 ▪ The deadline for Team Size Entry is 01 August 2020 (-2 months) ▪ The deadline for Team Names Entry is 20 September 2020 (-10 days) ▪ The deadline for Late Entries, Changes of Team Size or Team Names is 30th Sep- tember 2020 at 12:00 Team Size Entry (deadline 01 August 2020) The following information shall be filled in: ▪ Team manager (Chosen from list in IOF Eventor) ▪ Number of Team athletes (Men and Women) ▪ Number of Team officials ▪ Number of Team athletes in the individual races (Federation Team Quota will be published by the IOF). There is no maximum number of officials per team. Team Names Entry (deadline 20 September 2020) The following information shall be filled in: ▪ Name of each Team athlete by selecting from federation members in IOF Eventor Competition Entries Names of the competitors and, if required, their starting group, shall be entered in IOF Eventor, before 12 noon on the day before of each race. Late Entries, Changes of Team Size or Team Names Late Entries and changes will be accepted, if possible, up 30th September 2020, 12:00. No late entries or changes will be accepted after that time. Late entries and changes will always have a defined extra cost (surcharge). Late entries and changes will always be treated equally and must be communicated directly to the organiser. After deadlines the Organiser will update the IOF Eventor with accepted changes. 5.2 ENTRY FEES AND PAYMENTS Details to Entry fee and Payment will be published in Bulletin 1+2. 7
Orienteering World Cup 2020 Round #3, Italy – Bulletin 1 6. ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Information about accommodation and food will be published in Bulletin 1+2. 7. EMBARGOED AREAS The marked competition areas in Cansiglio Forest are embargoed areas. For competi- tors, team officials and others who, through knowledge of the terrain or the competi- tions, may influence the results of the competitions, it is prohibited to enter the embar- goed areas. These embargoed areas are valid until the day of the competition, except for Archetton map, which will be released in May 2020 and will be used for Italian Championships and afterwards for trainings. It is allowed to take part in the Italian Championships. Information about embargoed areas is also published on the Event website and on the IOF website (Eventor). 7.1 PREVIOUS ORIENTEERING MAPS There are previous orienteering maps from Cansiglio Forest. They can be downloaded from the IOF Eventor or the Event website. 8

After Italian Championship in May 2020 also Archetton maps will be available. Please contact the Organiser for more detailed information. 9. RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATIONS 9.1 COMPETITION RULES The Competition Rules for IOF Foot Orienteering Events 2020, valid from 1 January 2020 apply. 9.2 CLASSES AND PARTICIPATION RESTRICTIONS There are two classes, Women and Men. Participation restrictions, classes and qualification system will follow the Special Rules for the 2020 World Cup in Orienteering. 9.3 ANTI-DOPING Doping is forbidden. “Think positive – test negative!” IOF Anti-Doping Rules apply, valid as of January 1, 2015. Both, the IOF and/or the anti-doping agency of the organizing country can order doping tests at any time during the stay of the participants. By their signature given at the event registration upon arrival, the athletes and coaches will accept that they are subject to sanctions in the event of any doping offence. The team leader will have to sign for the whole team. 9.4 INSURANCE The organisers decline any liability that might occur through participation in the IOF World Cup Events and trainings. Each person participates at her/his own risk and is responsible for her/his own insurance coverage (illness and accident). 9.5 CLIMATE Average temperatures in Cansiglio at the beginning of October lies between 10 and 20°C in daytime. 9.6 VISA PERMITS The prerequisite for immigration into Italy is a valid passport. For travellers from certain countries a visa or further documents are required. 9
Orienteering World Cup 2020 Round #3, Italy – Bulletin 1 Please check with Italian embassy in your country if you need a visa (http://vistoperi- talia.esteri.it/home/en). 9.7 ATHLETE’S LICENCE All athletes need to have an IOF athlete’s licence to participate at the World Cup races. 10. MEDIA SERVICES We welcome all media representatives as our partners to broadcast the thrilling events of World Cup 2020 to a broad public. For media accreditation and related requests please contact media@wcup.it 11. COMPETITION INFORMATIONS 11.1 PUNCHING SYSTEM The punching system used is SPORTident Air+. The competitor can use their own SIAC, providing the card number to the organizers via Eventor with the same deadline of the team’s names. A second card will be provided by the organizer. Both the card shall be carried on the same arm. The punches from the two cards shall be merged to form the punching record (IOF Rule 20.7). 11.2 CLOTHING It is forbidden to run with spike shoes. However, dobb spikes are allowed. Otherwise, there are no regulations on clothing, but it is recommended to cover arms and legs in the forest race to avoid tick bites. Ticks might transmit Boreliosis and Meningo-Encephalitis. 12. Karst terrain with many creeks and sinkholes, and lots of particulars; occa- sionally stony. A lot of charcoal platforms Forms Hilly topography with moderate to steeper slopes Vegetation Beech forest with high runnability and visibility Courses Women 4,8km/150m climb, winning time 35’ Men 5,5km/200m climb, winning time 35’ Course setters: Federico Venezian, Paride Grava 12.3 RELAY, 04 OCTOBER 2020 Format Relay, mass start Map Cansiglio, 1:10’000, 5m Terrain Orienteering terrain between 1000 and 1200m above sea level. Karst terrain with lots of particulars; occasionally stony. A lot of charcoal plat- forms Forms Hilly topography with moderate to steeper slopes Vegetation Beech forest with high runnability and visibility Courses Women 3x 5.0km/150m climb, winning time 35’ Men 3x 6.0km/200m climb, winning time 35’ Course setters: Simone Grassi, Carlo Pilat, Fabio Hueller 13. PUBLIC RACES There will be public races organised in connection with each main World Cup race. The Public race’s arena will be placed nearby the main Arena; with the morning start, aiming to finish the competition before the World Cup races’ finish. 11
