Noise Studies Topics of Community Interest Related to Noise Studies Thus Far… We’ve gotten variety of questions and have provided answers in the form of an FAQ Fact Sheet that can be found on the project website listed at the end of this presentation. Those topics that we responded to included: ▪ Information about the Noise Study and ▪ Other Sound Barriers on Nearby Outcome Determination Factors Projects ▪ Time and Location Data was Collected Important Highlights: ▪ The City of Arvada is following the FHWA’s Traffic Noise Analysis and Abatement Guidelines which have determined that this project does not require a noise wall. ▪ Traffic data was collected and used, along with previous average daily traffic (ADT) for the corridor and adjusted using growth factors to represent peak-hour conditions for both the existing condition model and future condition (2020) noise model. This predictive model was used to estimate noise conditions at more than 537 receptors of noise for future conditions and is used to predict the one-house worst case scenario in the year 2040. ▪ As a result of the Traffic Noise Analysis, design proceeded with wood fencing option.
COMMUNITY BENEFITS The team heard feedback from the community and was able to act on it. Improvements Being Made ▪ Widen W. 72nd Ave. between Swadley Court and Kipling Street to match the road east of Kipling, eliminating the bottleneck. ▪ Create an underpass at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing near Oak St. to eliminate traffic backups. ▪ Add bike lanes. ▪ Add sidewalks for pedestrians. ▪ Upgrade signalized intersections with the latest traffic signal equipment and technology. ▪ Resolve significant drainage issues along W. 72nd Ave.
